View Full Version : Buys Of The Week-BOTW
I thought I'd try to start a new topic where anyone can share newly bought items, car related or not,it doesn't really matter to me,as we all seem to share common interests.
I was at a local Oil & Gas show yesterday with two friends and among other things, watched one of them buy this Schwinn 5spd..

Rick,
One of our fellow members here is into 1970's bikes big-time!
You might be shocked at the thousands of dollars these
things can cost. Much like our beloved cars back in the
day, everything not needed was removed (exhaust manifolds,
SMOG systems, mechanical fuel pumps, original carburetors,
original distributors, etc. ). In regards to these bikes,
we all stripped off everything not needed when we were kids.
I'm just amazed to hear that from time-to-time one is found
with its original chain guard, front & rear fenders, seat,
handlebar grips, etc..
Guess some things just don't change. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Boy do I remember Schwinns like that one. Classy wheels in those days! King of the 7th grade bike rack.

Seeing this bike reminded me of a childhood injury. I had a
bike just like this, but mine was gold. I ran into a high
curb and went lurching forward. Look closely at where the
shifter is..... OUCH http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
Now I remember why I hated that bike.

BOTW......Went out and braved the 24" of snow we got yesterday and headed to a swap meet. I was one of only a handfull of people there. They had about 15 vendors total..Found a vintage "Grump Lump" style scoop and a NOS Lakewood three point roll bar. The scoop came off of a 69 D/S Mustang and had been collecting dust since the early 70's.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

You have to HOST your image with photobucket or other photo hosting site. Then you can get the photo address from that and use Rick's instructions. Photobucket.com

Somehow hard to admit but I like the Pinto too!.
A chum of mine got a deal on a first year '71 Pinto from Ford as a 'body in white' and made a cool little B-Sedan road racer out of it!.
I drove it a few times and the modified 4-banger was pretty fast also it handled great too...a far cry from the factory issue road cars!.
Ford rocks?.

This isn't really a buy of the week but is a combo of buys over a long period. Some came from an aqaintance who also likes the "Day 2" look and others from Ebay and some pieces from an old speed shop. All are matching pieces with early part numbers and all the gauges are from Autometers Elgin, Ill location unlike the later stuff which came from Sycamore, Ill.

That's correct for 396-427cid Chevelle & Passenger series.
The 68 Z Camaro is different & would've used #6484665.

Here's a nice vintage case of 24 NOS STP gas treatment cans I just picked up.
The owner won it when he won his class at the 1966 SCCA Natl.Championship in Riverside,California back then.
His name is Al Lader & he got two of these cases and an STP vinyl fender tender, but threw that out awhile ago after years of useage.
He said he was surprised to find this unopened case stashed away in his garage,as he thought he used them all up.
Each can is still full and the boxed preserved them very well.

Here's the vintage metal rack that they originally fit into.
I bought three of these for the one case of 24 cans,as they hold 8 cans each.

From a Machine shop in Mesa. Got a call yesterday he was going to send a bunch of blocks to the scrap yard. Picked up thirty (30) 67 - 70 standard bore short blocks, 2/3rds were four bolt small blocks, rest were big block two bolt main. Unfortunately there were no four bolt main BBs. 4 were CE blocks. We took nothing that had been decked or wasn't standard bore. Also picked up misc other stuff, drive shafts, intakes, late 66 turbo 400 CA trans, couple nice Torque Thrusts with shot L60s, nice stand I will be using for my wire wheel. Picked the hottest day of the year, 88 degrees but the price was right $1000 for everything. Got a good workout moving blocks around all day. Didn't really have the money or need the blocks but couldn't see them going away forever. So... if anyone needs a block I might have what you need.
