Possible, sure but seeing this guy has the HP wrong also is a Zero feedback seller makes a fella wonder if he even knows anything about Corvettes much less the difference between an L71 or L88?.
Also if a real L88 and he knew it, you'd think he'd offer something more than what he's laid out?.

Not the best ebay auction I've ever seen either. But, If I
was in the market for an L-88 "in the rough", this is
exactly what I would look for. I'd have someone over there
in a heart beat to see under the hood http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not that color means anything but she is pretty close to the one that was up here. Yes the one that I didnot buy for $7500.00 because the clutch was blown and the M22 didnot shift right. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif OH to have those days over. That was probally 1980 however before we all knew how rare the L88 was.
Car is still here about 4 hours from me sitting like this one but all apart indoors and not for sale for any price. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Hello Jason,
The Corvette photos shows a aftermarket style L-88 style hood. The wiper door assembly has been removed to install the 1973 and newer style hood.
The car show white paint under the gold paint. The gold paint is not even close to the Riverside Gold only offered 1 year for 1969.
The lack of more photos of under hood and engine to show details.

Drew Papsun

Looking at this auction brings me back about 7 years ago.
Also - to Long Island. I had a client at the time who ownd several
"special" Ford high performance cars including a 289 Cobra,
a 427 Cobra and two original GT40's. These of course were
all parked in his garage. However, outside in the tall
grass ( rusting away ) was a 1970 428 Super Cobra Jet Cougar.
The owner drove past it every day and was un-moved
about its condition. Finally, a house painter working on
the estate next door spotted the Cougar and rescued it.
According to my client, the painter never did make full
payment on the car - but took delivery anyway. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Can-I-Have-It.gif

So - perhaps the L-88 in question is the bottom of the barrel for
its current owner. Wish I had a spare $30,000.00
so I could get this baby ( if real - that is http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif ).

From the looks of that palatial estate the only thing you'll probably find in the garage is the missing Genovese family mobster Vinny "The Fish" Cafaro

Probably a bunch of junk worth less than one percent of what the car is worth!

But seriously, I'd love to hear a report from someone local that could check it out!

Besides having the hp wrong - he is showing it as an automatic - what were there 3 L-88 auto's produced?
I have sent the seller an E-bay question for his address to go and see it. Let's see if he ever responds!

Hello Christopher,
Chevorlet built 116 L-88 Corvette in 1969.
They built (101) M-22 HD 4-sp transmission and (15) M-40 automatic Corvettes.

I would say market for this car with docs would be 175-200K to assume discription is correct. Highly doubtful though.
Nabors would probably be around 100 although I do not know from experience.

Assuming the "5" in the eBay auction is supposed to be an "S" (if I recall correctly), there are documented L88's within 10,000 units of this one. Not sure if that matters as much as it does with '69 Camaros. IMO it is still a long shot...

Also has the "wiper door delete" hood. Didn't know they had these in 1969. Car is completely "original". http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I e-mailed him asking about the incorrect horsepower listing.
His response was:

I made a mistake on the hp, it is 430 and it does have the single 4 barrel carb. Thanks, Donald

I would think based on the bids, the bidders have already looked at the car in person and have determined it to be real.

"completely original" including extremely rare RF tire painted to match.

sounds like another Ebay "survivor" with "both quarters replaced in the 90's" http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

not knocking the car or owner, just the uselessness of wording in these ads http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

No mention of paperwork and this would spike the value quite a bit. If the frame is rotted or rusty, you can add a bunch to the repair. These cars have so many valuable parts that I'm sure are missing that the cost of a restoration could be pushing $100,000 plus the parts. How about L88 plug wires at about $3,000 and hood at about $3,000.
I don't see an antenna as this should be a no radio car.
A buyer could have an additional $150,000 to $175,000 in the restoration, it better have paperwork with that kind of cash plus the cost of the car. It would be even better with the original engine. Now if it has a tank sticker and an original engine, it would certainly be worth saving.

It appears that it was removed by the seller, not eBay. I bet it sold outside eBay. I think most of these cars do.

Unfortunatly, I was waiting to read if this was real or not. Maybe word will spread.

L88s are bringing strong money these days. My old 69 was sold to Proteam (by the fellow who bought it from me in 04) during the NCRS winter in FL this past January and apparently has already sold again. Anybody here buy it?
