I am very happy to tell you that after a long search for this car, the chase is over, stories of a fast RA GTO conv. had floated around for years and was never able to confirm it's existence,we got a good lead on a rust free GTO convert. with a 4 speed and went to take a gander at it and found that there was a ram air pan on the bottom of the hood along with a big block chevy between the fenders, the owner said he bought it in the early 70's and quickly squeaked the motor, had it rebuilt, squeaked it again, he said 400's are junk and had a 454 installed, also not being a big fan of green he had the car stripped and repainted black by earl himself, but the good part is he kept all of the original parts to the car including the engine and gears that he removed because it would only do 90 mph tops, after sending for the PHS and confirming all the suspicions, we talked at length with the owner, and made a deal on the car and brought it home, it will be on the back burner for a while but I thought I would give you guy's a peek, the car was originally verdoro green with a dark green top and gold bucket interior, the temptation to throw all aside and fix it is a killer, but it will have to wait!!!! so don't give up on the hunt guy's there is still some good stuff hidden out there...

Awesome car to find, especially after hearing rumors about it for years. I can imagine the feeling http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif when it was realized that it was the car you were looking for.
This reminds me of the story behind a `70 Orbit Orange Ram Air IV Convert that was found locally years ago. Difference was, he traced the car down by the VIN.

my brother Carl and I have owned several nice Pontiac's over the years, including a triple black 69 judge convert. 4 speed but with the prices of these cars over the past few years the thought of owning another judge or ram air convert didn't look good, so finding this car is a true blessing,

That is the side of the hobby most don't like to talk about Rich. I've talked to many lifelong enthusiasts who can't afford the cars they spent a lifetime building and enjoying. Still, there are a few guys that have their restore their Poncho and can restore it too. This is one of my favorite stories I've read recently:
