I have a prospect on a 1970 Firebird. I am waiting for the trim tag info. He is a Ford guy and picked this up, but wants to play with ponies instead.

fax that vin to PHS and for 55.00 you will have all the info you need. with the Pontiac's it is one heck of a great tool to have. for 10.00 extra they will fax you back the info within 1 hour.

Its a base Firebird, wrong rad support for a 70

you mean the whole core support is wrong for the car? It is obviously an a/c car. I just figure if it came with a 12 bolt and still has it, the car is worth what he wants for it in just parts.
I don't wanna spend $55 on a car that I may not even get.

What do you think a restoration will cost? More than $55. Spend the 2 bucks now to find out what you are buying.

My point is, I just wanted some general info without doing the PHS. I used PHS on my 69 GTO, not doubt a great service. But I am not going to dump the money on every pontiac prospect.

if you get the info off the cowl tag you can narrow it down. Was it a manual trans??

By the VIN # you posted, it's a base Firebird. The BOP 12-bolt was only available in the 70 Trans Am, and it's quite rare. Did the guy say it had a 12-bolt?

yes the hole support has been replaced sometime in its life if you look at the top of the rad support it has 2 dipresion one on each side it should not have them all 70/72 had a flat top panel here is a picture of a correct one

I thought all Firebirds/Camaro's got 10-bolts beginning in 19701/2. My 71 T/A has a 10-bolt "safe-t-trak" axle. Was the 12 bolt part of the T/A package or an option in 70?

all 70 T/A's and Formulas had 12 bolt rear, all 1970 T/A where equiped with a Posi on the othwer hand 1970 Formulas Posi where optional. 71 and up where all 10 bolt
All 70 SS Camaros and Z-28's also got the 12 bolt in 70. After that they went to the 10 bolt.

I knew the early 70 F body cars had the 12 bolt option.
Anyhow, here is what he told me was the trim tag info.
