I don't think that car is a Motion car; I seem to recall a Corvette shop in California that had done some cars that had been featured in the magazines of the day. I think the shop was Bernie's Custom Corvettes or soemthing like that. I remember that many of the Corvettes this shop had done used those Camaro tail lights.

thanks for the info. heres an atachment of the only motion car to appear in a movie cleopatra jones
If I remember correctly, the Yellow Motion Phase III Corvette Joel found and restored was originally bought as a gift for a movie producer and later found on a movie set wearing cheap black paint over the original Motion paint/stripes. It was said to have been in a movie. The story is in a Vette mag article.
Motion built a few cars though the 1980s and maybe early 1990s. and still was designing/selling some custom fiberglass parts.
Here is a picture of Joel’s wife’s Mustang that was used in the catalog.
I was told she would cruz this rig to LI beach with the top down and a big dog riding shotgun.

Neither of these are 73's while sporting a chrome bumper.
There hasn't been any history discovered on any GT's after 71.
Joe G.; Have you any more text or follow-up on that story?
The rumor that was printed is that this PhaseIII GT 454 vette appeared in Cannonball Run but that clip wound up on the cutting room floor....but the car was saved..http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii145/PICCARY/0045060-R1-E011.jpg

AS EVERYBODY CAN SEE THIS IS NOT THE CAR I AM TALKING ABOUT
THE CAR IN CLEOPATRA JONES PICTURED ABOVE THE YELLOW GT IS A 73 AND DOES NOT HAVE A CROME FRONT BUMPER THATS THE MOTION STRIPE WRAPPING AROUND THE FRONT RUBBER BUMPER THIS IS THE ONLY PICTURE I COULD RETRIEVE OFF THE INTERNET IM TRYING TO GET A COPY OF THE MOVIE TO POST MORE PICTURES
Sorry kiddo,I couldn't find your Vette photo, but I was able to find the one JoeC had mentioned---I'll still look for yours----No need for the caps...........
The yellow Phase III GT is the one that was in the Warner Bros movie studio inventory at one time then Joel found it some where in the Midwest and bought it back according to the article.
How do you know the cleopatra jones movie car was a Motion Corvette?
It looks similar to the Motion Super Shark III but don't think it is the same car. This Super Shark III is a wild custom 1975 Corvette show car Joel built around 1984. It had a chrome undercarriage, a 4-seat conversion, blower, Camaro tail lights, wings, a bunch of other stuff

I heard a long time ago that Corvette in Cleopatra Jones movie was supposedly a Motion Vette.. So I bought a VHS copy of it on ebay... What a horrible freakin movie from what I remember.. I don't think I watched the whole thing, just got it to see the car. To me the car didn't look like a Motion car from the 70-73 era. (the movie was made in 1973) But it does appear similar to 74 and later Motion Vette mods.. The headlights appear to be the same as the Spyder Vettes and most all Motion Vettes from 75-80............ Then again I'm sure no Motion Corvette expert............................
. Did he start that headlight mod in 73??? Would have had to be a 72 or 73 Vette to be in a 1973 movie. Only other details of that car I can remember is that it had a black diamont tuck interior similer to 1 or 2 other Motion Vettes from the time period. Can't remember seeing any MOTION emblems on it from the movie. I got a dvd copy on the way in the mail just to see it again... Maybe the movie won't suck so bad this time around http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
Wasn't one of Joels Vettes shown on an episode "CHIPS" too?http://adwoff.com/smilies/c/captivated_by_tv.gif

Yeah.. I just got done watching this stupid movie.. In my opinion the car is NOT a Motion built car. The only mod on the car that resembles anything Motion did is the Shelby scoops on the side pillars. And I think I remember someone saying somewhere that Motion only ever did that to One (1) Corvette at the owners request.. The Gold/Black 69 Phase III GT.. But I could be wrong. Anyway the movie is horrible. I started out trying to watch it and ended up watching it in fast forward only pausing to look at the car scenes in frame by frame mode... It's not a Motion car.. Most likely just a movie car built in CA like the rest of them. My guess it's an older Vette with a '73 nose added along with all the other body mods.. It does have flared out wheel wells (not like Motion Vettes), The tail panel job looks nothing like Motion work (look at the pics)... It does have a fastback window job, but it's nothing like the Motion GT rear window. My memory was wrong about the interior, It just has the standard black cloth stock interior (other than the fold down door panel full of guns and crap).. This car has a couple other movie props on it too like the hydraulic ram operated T-top that raised when the driver door opens and flame throwing tail pipes (under the license plate). Another glaring fact that shows this not to be a Motion car.. I don't think Joel was in the business of building Movie Prop cars.. Motion was in Long Island, NY.. This hidious movie was filmed in CA.. and it had to have been filmed in 1972. This movie was released in July 1973. Thats why I think it's an older Vette with a '73 nose added.. This just seems like an aweful lot of work to do to a brand new 1973 Vette, have time to film the movie and have it all done in time for a July release.. Anyway, here are two shots from the tv screen.. Judge for yourself.. and remember, not every car that has a stripe up the middle of the roof is a Baldwin/Motion car....... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

That one white and red Camaro is a 75,76 or 77; the rear window appears to wrap all the way around unlike the 74 and older 2nd gens.
I have a soft spot for 2nd gens, esp. the 75 - 77's as that was my first car; a 76 Rally Sport.

I actually dig some 80's influence, like the widebody stuff. Agreed the Camaro is a little over the top, but the original Audi Quattro is unique, historically significant and cool. When Porsche went from the 924 to the 944 that was a nice improvment. I even have a think for Mitsubishi Starion cars.
Funny how that wild Lambo influenced spoiler is just as relevant today with some of those crazy spoilers which are OE n some cars and all over the aftermarket.

No doubt about that. The Euro influence on the American car market was evident as day is to night but in terms of bleak styling and modest performance, the 90's were something to forget. Man think about the ZR1... $25,000 over sticker... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It's been awhile since I saw the movie "Walking Tall-Part 2"-circa 1975 but I remember a scene with a blue 70-73 Camaro that if I remember correctly had the Motion paint scheme in white. In the movie the scene shows Sheriff Buford destroying a race car driver's blue Camaro at the livestock market. He rips off the door etc. In hindsight I hope its not because it gets wrecked. But this is from memory. Anyone have a copy of the movie???

I watch the ceremony every year. But this year I am traveling, and it seems I will have to miss the show from the zip code are I will be in postcodefinder.net/ (https://postcodefinder.net/). Though not a big deal, I will watch it later, I like the whole show, the festive atmosphere, the chic outfits. Plus, I like the feeling of the expectation of the winner. Pity, that I will know the results for the moment I will have a chance to watch the show.
