Congratulations Ray! I had the opportunity to meet Ray at the first annual reunion and he is a great guy. He spent a few hours of his time talking to me, a 14 year old kid at the time about Fred Gibb and Dick Harrell and their contributions to Chevrolet high performance. I had never seen nor heard of a Dick Harrell nova before this event but Ray had me all caught up on the info about the cars before the weekend was over. I even got to ride in it on the way to the track. Way cool Nova!!!!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Thanks to all for their kind words and interest. Just one minor flaw on this story, that being what I believe might have been an editorial error leaving out the word "Original" at the end of the story. Congratulations to all the others recognized in this issue, Steve Sandlin, Joe Barr,Kevin Hand, Mark Hassett, Helen's & Jack Walker's Nova's, and material about Bill Thomas, Dick Harrell, Yenko, Nickey, Bill Jenkins, Jungle Jim, and others involved with the Nova's and the history behind them. Geoff did a good, balanced job on his editorial's of putting all together.

Andy, will never forget the 14 year old with so much enthusiasm and knowledge about all the rare muscle cars at the first Super Car Reunion in Hendersonville. Still have the picture of you and the re Camaro hanging in the office.

I am subscribed to the magazine and love it. I have been a Nova fan since I was a kid (my first car was a 1970 Nova) and truly enjoyed this issue.

Just wondering, I noticed the Yenko emblem on the front fenders of both cars on located in different spots. One is higher than the other. Is that the way they came from dealership?

Thanks for the compliments guys! Ray's car looks as awesome as ever... one of the coolest Novas of all time IMO. I too remember talking to him at SCR1 and learning all about what a DH427 Nova was all about. I don't think I was old enough to drink (legally http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif) back then either! As for the variation of emblem placement between Steve's car and mine, you'll often find differences in fender emblem placement from car to car, as the emblems were applied by many different people at Yenko. The trunk one is always in the same place because it covers up the holes where the factory "Nova" script once was. (Similar to how the 69 sYc Camaro rear emblem placement is dictated by where the factory holes were from the bowtie emblem.) If you look closely there are usually variations in stripe placement from car to car too... not really any "right or wrong" when it comes to this stuff on a Yenko car.

camarojoe....Thanks for the information on the Yenko emblem. This is what I like about this website. There is so much knowledge that if anyone has a question it will get answered correctly.

Again, congrats on all the "Super" cars in the magazine this edition. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/youguysrock.gif

Back in the late '90s, I posted the E2, E3, and E4 COPO codes to see if I could come up with anything. They were on a GM engine code sheet I had with no information. Ray came back with the code for his car. I guess the other two codes never got used. Ray sent me reams of information on his car along with a video. I treasure this stuff to this day and get it out for a look see from time to time. His video showed a couple of other cars that Ray and his sons had put together. Very nice and very talented guy. Hats off. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Brian and Joey both (and the rest of the Supercar Workshop gang) put alot of time, effort, and skill into my car and certainly deserve kudos for all they've done to help me with getting my Deuce dailed-in right, but credit should also have been given to Neal Robbins, who did the initial restoration of the car prior to me purchasing it from him. Aside from a few minor errors in the article, I think it came out pretty nice! Thanks to Steve and his guys for getting the car to Red Rock for the shot and for giving my deuce a winter home in sunny Nevada too...

Very nice articles, and a thank you to Mr. Sandlin for allowing us to do the restoration on the "Moses" deuce.
I would add that as far as those chalk marks under the hood, we did not put them there, because we found no trace of them ever being there. I've never found any on mine, nor the Roof deuce. If they're truly chalk, I suppose they may have just worn off, but I went out and rechecked mine tonight, and couldn't find anything. The stenciled mark on the frame is the same thing. I took the paint off the Roof deuce by hand in that area trying to find that stencil, and never did.
I guess it doesn't matter, but the reason we didn't put it on, was that we found no evidence of them being there on this particular car. Like Joe says, they do vary between cars. FWIW.
Again, congrats to everyone. And it's always great to see Ray, and that beautiful blue nova get the credit they both deserve. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Just picked up that issue yesterday at an airport and read it on a flight home. Some good reading in this issue. I noticed the picture to that "test mule" Shelby. I'll be heading to see David Randall soon to see the progress he's making on a friends '68 GT 500 convertible that kissed a wall sideways.
