Fall Vette-Fest 68-70 HiPo Nova Display

It has never before happened at Vette-Fest, but that will all change on the weekend of November 22-23 2008. The first ever 1968-70 High-Performance Nova Special Display will be one of the feature attractions. Bob Ashton and Chevy Vette Fest along with the help of the Supercar Registry, The Yenko Deuce Registry and Super Car Workshop welcome all owners of 68-70 Hipo Novas to attend. From bone stock survivors, dedicated restorations, to authentic vintage drag Novas. Whats lurking in your garage? Its time to show Vette-Fest your Nova. From SS350 to SS396's, Gibb COPO's, Yenkos/SC and Deuces. I know there are Nova owners out there that have been waiting for just this showcase. So spread the word and let's do the Nova owners and enthusiasts proud. Can we get all the Deuce colors?,how about all four Gibb Nova colors while we are at it. Dennis,My car could be in the car corral not the show lane.Pictures are very decieving.Our car has rust and bondo issues.But maybe when it's restoe'd I would very much like to be invited to a Vettefest with it.For now I will be a spectator.If we can afford the fuel to bring it to SCR11 you will see what I am talking about.If it was a show worthy car I would be all over it.

By all means bring the car. When we pitched the idea of a Nova Showcase It was never meant to exclude anyone, but just like the LS6 Showcase, its had to be an LS6. Since the Novas have never had there own Showcase at VF we all felt that 68-70 SS/COPO platform cars were the ones that should be displayed in the Showcase. This is my documented 8400 mile 1969 396 L78 M22 SS Nova. Car has a fresh rotiserie restoration completed May 08 by Mike Angelo "m22mike".
Car has all it's original body panels, rubber mats and interior.
Car was purchased new from Lyle Chevrolet in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio. Lyle was the dealer that sold ZL-1 # 53.
Would like to be considered for the Nova showcase at the Fall Vettefest.

Thanks Grady for the opprotunity to do such a deserving car. I am spoiled now for when the next one comes along.
I know all will agree when you see all the Pic's of this car.
I will give Bruce alot of the build photos with the rest of the story.
Grady was a great car guy to work with on this project. He never tried to cut corners and always wanted to keep the Nova as correct as possible. As was evident with all the nice NOS stuff he got for the car.
Do not look for this car to be sold anytime soon, Grady is not a car flipper, but a ture collector.
Someday the Nova will be parked next to it's big brother.

I am preparing our new Chevy Vettefest Car Show Guide and a website update also. If you are planning on being a part of the HP Nova Showcase, please confirm with Brian and send me some photos.

Remember; any cars accepted for this Showcase (or the Z/28 Showcase or the sYc Showcase), can either be Display Only OR Judged, your call.

Since the overall quality of our entrants has gotten better with each show, it is very important that we know who is coming, (and especially who wants to be judged), so that we can be properly staffed with enough qualified Judges. We are well on our way to another completely sold-out show, so help me achieve my goal of "raising the bar" with the best cars possible!

it would be a long shot. I dont have time to tow it myself so I'd have to try and see if anyone of the members has an open space going that way....worth a try. I think I was last at that show in 85-86 before I left to head west. Was it ever around McCormack place on the west side of Lake Shore Drive?

I really doubt anyone could ask for more. The Nova display was everything I expected. We had a total of 19 cars sign up and a grand total of 18 arrive. Not a bad ratio by any standard. It was great to meet everyone and I am glad to report we had NO issues all weekend. Everything ran smooth. I want to thank Dennis Cumby for his hard work, that made mine easy, and Frank Arone for helping get the cars in place, since we were delayed. The weather was another thing, but the show was perfect. The trip home was 100% in the rain Monday, but at least if wasn't snow. Thanks again to all who participated in the first ever Nova display. Congrads to all the Nova Showcase participants that won awards especially Tommy K, there couldn't be a nicer guy and was well deserved!!
