On a recent trip to NY I went to a friends house to see his collection of survivor Corvettes and his 69 Z/28. One of the cars was this super nice 68 Corvette Bronze/Tobacco interior two top roadster 427/435 sold new at Nickey. The car was original paint and looked great with those wire wheel covers. He told me he has the tank sticker and other Nickey paperwork for the car. I didn't see the paperwork since it was in a safe at his fathers house, but the car was fantastic. He would like to bring the car to the sYc reunion and display the car and paperwork. I think that would be great. My friend Bob as a 69' 435 original Daytona Yellow coupe sold new at Yenko that he wants to bring too. Both a Nickey and a Yenko sold 427/435 at the reunion would be a first...BKH http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

That is very cool. We'll need to put it in the Nickey Sold Registry. We have a few L71 Vettes. Including one which had a few options installed before it left Nickey Chevrolet. We even know of and inspected a Survivor 1968 L89 Vette Convertible.

Great Idea for the Reunion.

That is my favorite C3 color combination ever.

The first Vette that I tried to buy in 1984 looked just like this car, it had 18K miles on it and was in original condition. A guy had it on the Chicago area at the time. Price was 10K at the time but I could not afford the insurance at the time. I wonder if it is the same car.

A fellow by the name of Tom Kelly owned a '68 maroon/black L89 Corvette coupe that came from Nickey. He moved to Arizona in the late 80's with the car. He had a nice W30 442 featured in Muscle Car Review in the 90's. Lost track of him, but he was involved in the Confederate Air Force.

In my opinion 1968 & '69 L71 vettes are the biggest bargains out there.

Tim - Jim is alive and well. Just saw him on Sunday at the BOP car show. He was the one that directed my attention to the Bunkie Knudsen '61 Bonny Tripower (see "BOP" photos). He still has that beautiful green W30 '70 442. What a car! His Dad was a B17 instructor during WWII here at Willie AFB (now Williams Gateway) I have lunch at the flight line cafe occasionally and Jim had lent a bunch of cool memorobilia from his Dad's flying days which is placed on the walls with all the other memorobilia.

Tell him "Hi" from an old friend in Austin. Does he still have his Nickey L89 Corvette?

Sure will Tim. Don't think so on the 'vette.
