I've been asked to explain my experience with Gary (Tachman)........I sent my 6000 RPM Tach to be converted to a 7000 RPM unit........Gary quoted a price of $185 +$15 shipping for a total of $200 with the work to be done in 4-6 weeks.......After 8 weeks I called and was told that the "New" price was $300 and I should send the Money at that time.......It bothered me that even though I had a "Firm" quote it now seemed that I got stuck paying for a New 7000RPM Silkscreen .....(Extra $100)....even though I was told he had one initally........So....Rather than get into it with Mr. Personality......I sent the Money.....After waiting a couple of weeks and the Tach not showing up, I became concerned about it being lost in UPS....So I called Gary and his wife answered and said that Gary was not there at that time......I said that I just wanted to get the UPS info so I could check and see where it was at..........She said she would have him call me when he got back and I said that wasn't necessary if she would just get me the UPS info.........She again said she would have him call....so ,,,,,I said.....Fine....
He calls about a half hour later and jumps down my throat about giving his wife a Hard Time..........I explained that since I had paid the $300 a couple of weeks ago and the Tach hadn't shown up as of yet and I was Concerned it got lost in shipping........At that time he "Blow's up" and tells me he hasn't even started on it yet and it won't be finished for another 3-4 weeks and not to call again and "Bother" him or his wife.........I then told him that I "Normally" pay for Services after the work was done and not 6 weeks ahead of time.........I was then told that I would get it when he got around to it and again...."Not" to call.........Great way to do business....Got it about 4 weeks later......."Never Again"
Nice Job.........But not worth the "Drama"

I have used and suggested Gary on numerous occasions. Never once did he act out inappropriately. Ken, maybe you caught him on a bad day?

Gary, The Tachman, is a member of Team Chevelle. I PMed him a few months ago and haven't gotten a response yet. I called him last week and left a message that I wanted an instrument clusted restored and haven't gotten a response. I am close enough to him that I could personally deliver my cluster so I figured it would be a good idea to use him. I guess he doesn't need the business.

I'd be happy to help you. Checkout my website www.instrument-specialties.com (http://www.instrument-specialties.com)

I do all my own work, unlike the competition. 100% show quality. I promise the most authentic work as I have all the original art negatives and ink formulas from AC Delco, the original manufacturer of GM gauges. I re-silkscreen the dials using the factory original process, no decals, overlays, hot stamping or pad printing here. Total cosmetic, mechanical and electrical restoration.
Thanks Guys.
