Does anyone know if there are two different thicknesses of drain plugs for the floors? I think the ones used in the trunk were a different thickness vs. the ones used inside the car.

What is a good source for correct drain plugs? Should they be galvanized?
Thanks

Camaro or Nova no difference in thickness. The repo ones they sell today are thicker. They are a galvinized finish. Some have dates, some do not. I just re-installed the original ones from my Nova yesterday, All pulled from the original green, {yes green} seam sealer. None had dates on an April 69' car. We just prepped Frans 69' Nova today, a January 69' car, all had dates and the same green seam sealer. I have also seen non dated and dated plugs on the same car. They are typically installed with this high side up, but I have seen cars with one or two installed upside down...BKH

Good stuff Brian. What finish is on the original ones from the Nova you discussed above? Did you refinish them?
Any photos?
Thanks!

Yes, mine were all the same thickness and it had that same "green" sealer. There was also date codes on the one that I pulled, out of the three, and they were galvanized. I wonder where you could get that or how you could reproduce that?

FYI, I tore down a 69 11A Nova SS last year and the floor plug sealer was green. Maybe a Willow Run thing http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
Wish now I had a picture of the stuff http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Here is the green sealer as removed from my 69' Nova. You can still see the sag that fell though the hole, sort of frozen in time. Here are the original drain plugs back in place, re-galvanized with Franks own special green sealer. A dead on match. Not one plug on my car has a date, and I was the first to ever remove them...BKH

Looks Great. Where did you have them re-galvanized?
