I have FIVE 14 X 6 wheels......
Center hub area has "65" and "D" stamped on different raised areas (under the hub cap area)
Does this mean anything so far ???? I can get numbers/letters from around valve stem if it helps ID
I'd like to assess the origin and value of these.......
Thanks,

Chuck, if they are 67-9 Camaro (drum brake) wheels the code by the valve stem is "FC", on earlyer wheels the date code is opposite the valve stem. I think by 69 they stamped the date by the valve stem. Hope that helps, Alec
p.s. I just got my Phosphate kit from Vern, can't wait to boil some nuts and bolts http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

I was thinking that the "65" might be 1965.......but I dont know a thing about that vintage of wheel.....
Call me if you want my .02 on phosphating fasteners......

The code near the valve stem will probably tell more about the application.
Chuck, have you used Vern's Ph products yet?

Dave, I'll look and post more wheel codes soon.......
I have used the manganese phosphate product, but not the zinc which I have bought also.
Jeff Betz, a 2nd Gen Camaro friend and lead judge at Carlisle got me started. I am quite pleased with the results. I use a colman propane camp stove along with an old stainless steel pot. I went to a local restaurant supply and bought a stainless colander for dipping the fasteners or small parts.
I use BoeShield T-9 for my rust inhibiting finish, but other products serve the purpose.
Jeff figured out a way of using a larger vessel to do his hood hinges in......I gotta look through old Email to confirm if he used zinc or mang phosphate on the hinges...
Just outa curiosity, how have you been doing all your dark fasteners........
I know the clear zinc (silver) you send out, as most shops do...
Thanks,

From center of wheel looking OUT.........There is a B inside of a cicle, the letter O, Valve Stem, and letter B without a circle
Next wheel has similar stampings, but 4 to the right of stem instead of B
Anybody!!! Any ideas!!!

Chuck:
The "65" stamped on a raised boss between lug holes was used for several years from 1965 up to and including some 1967 wheels of various applications. Was is originally a 1965 date code and just not changed on the centers? I think that is a good possibility....
