Hi,
I have a 12 bolt rear end from a Chevelle or something similar that I am thinking I might want to part with.
How do I identify it and figure out the date codes and stuff? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Thanks, Joel
As well as what this diagram shows, relay all the letters and numbers lightly stamped in the passenger side axle tube usually facing the floor board,or front end.
The casting date & CON1 locations have been found to interchange between those locations shown, and also at the 4 O'clock & 8 O'clock positions.

The first thing I look for is the taper on the tube behind the flange. Chevy uses press in bearings. B O P tubes are straight. Bolt in axels.
