Question about Carb. return spring color????

Chevelle is similar to john deere green. not sure about nova

I think it is blue, but be careful with the repro springs out there, they suck and didn't bring my freshly rebuilt Holley 4557 by Vintage Carb back to dead idle, it is very weak. Just my .02

If your Nova uses a throttle cable and mounting bracket like a 70 Chevelle does , then Chad is correct, the spring # 3970274 is a green spring, not a blue one. The repros all come painted blue for this application which is incorrect. I use a dupli-color enamel spray can # DA1630 for this spring color.

Thanks Chris & Chad, yes it uses a throttle cable w/bracket and not a mechanical linkage...

That DA1630 is called leaf green. I found it on Dupli-color's website...

Thanks Jim for the heads up on the repro springs.. Mine is very strong and has been on the car for some time just did not have the correct color on it...

These stiff spring comments remind me of the old 'California tuneups' we used to perform back in the day...I think I mentioned this here before?.

In retrospect, not a great idea but we'd pull the main springs and stretch them removing a lot of the stiffness for easier throttle application..

Customers were never told what had been done but always commented on the smooth operation and how responsive the cars were even under light throttle application!.

So if you come upon any of the stretched springs, sorry?.
