Hello, I am selling my 1969 SS 396 L-78 ,375HP special order paint (- paint code)Chevelle. It is a numbers matching original drive train car. The short block has never been disassembled.It has the original four speed,12 bolt, carb, distributor, intake , black bucket seats,console,tach, gauges,SS wheels,master ,booster,etc.I had it for sale before I had a NOS quarter professionally installed and the roof fixed. It comes with another NOS pass quarter and NOS front fenders. There are several other parts to go with the car for the restoration.There is very little rust on the car.It is a Fremont build car and spent the first half of it life in Santa Barbara Califonia area.I am asking $33,500.For more info you can call 920 517-1001.

I will try to attach a photo.It was before the car had the quarter and roof fixed. There also was a day two rear lowering kit installed. I have since removed it and put the original style springs and shocks back in it. There is also a photo on Team Chevelle.

I have been told there are two other Rallye green 1969 Chevelles. They are both 325 HP car. From all the info. I have seen this is the only SS 396 L-78 Rallye green 1969 Chevelle. I believe there were around 86,307 1969 Chevelle made.My numbers are from the Chevelle SS restoration guide. If you have any other info 1969 Rallye green Chevelles please send me a e-mail at [email protected]

Thanks Doug

Good luck Doug.

If you go to '69 Chevelle RPO by Model (Chevellestuff.com) (http://www.chevellestuff.com/1969/options_by_model.htm) you will see the breakdown of engines ordered. Only SS cars got the 396 engine, therefore http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif :

L35 = 59.7K total ordered
L34 = 17.3K
L78 = 9.4K

for a grand total of ~86.4K Chevelle SS!

I owned a rally green 69 Chevelle SS as a kid. Don't know if it was color change or not. Have no idea about motor as I put a 454 in it. Car may be around Breezewood PA today?
Had a black vinyl top, Cragers; it was very sharp!

I would consider trading up or down on a 1969 Camaro.

Hello, I have been asked for a current photo with the NOS quarter and roof restored . It was done by a local shop with over 35 years of experience.The roof is only in epoxy primer so you can see exactly what is there.The only remaining damage is two small dents on the hood (very repairable),a small scratch on the trunk lid and the front windshield.The rear original glass is in very good shape and was removed to install the NOS quarter.The engine was removed for inspection and verification.I hope this clear up some of the questions. If you have any more please feel free to ask.

Thanks Doug

My mechanic showed me this site>
I purchased an L78 rallye green chevelle, on july 19,1969
in pittsburgh, pa black vinvyl top, and buckets, no console,
rear antenna, muncie rock crusher, $4,051.00 sticker. I sold the car in 1972, have tried in vain to relocate. My friend Tony bought a 1969 rallye green 325 hp convertible.

Hello Sam,
bought from AZ chevrolet, frankstown road penn hills,pa.
It was about a 9 week wait from order time to delivery.
the paint was superb. I got a speeding ticket the next night! I was 18 when I got the car. I wanted to buy a Yenko,
but my Dad would not sign for me as Yenko was in cannonsburg,
we lived in Monroeville, PA at the time. Then you had to be
21 to buy a car. The car had manual steering, no gauges, had the darkest tinted windows. the second week I had the car, we put on hooker headers, air shocks, dixco? tach, and
SW guages. originally had a 3:55 12 bolt... in 1970 I went
to 4:56 and eventually to 4:88... the 396 spun a bearing
and I installed an L88 short block. raced at keystone
raceway park. Those were the days.

I know of a 69 SS 396 Chevelle for sale locally...also a -B Ralley Green car, with a black top and side stripe. Original 4 speed car with decent option list. Factory tach + gauges, tilt column, N34 wheel, original bucket seat console car (although it was scrapped when the Hurst shifter was added) with speedminder and rear defrost. NOM, and no paperwork, currently has a rebuilt 454 between the fenders. It can be had at a reasonable but not giveaway price. If anyone is interested, shoot me an e-mail at [email protected] and we can discuss. This car restored properly with Magnum 500s, redlines, and a proper stance would rock. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

Did your car have the options this one has? I can't imagine there are too many similarly equipped 69 Rally Green Chevelles in the Pittsburgh area.

Did you by chance add ladder bars and a finned 12 bolt cover...this car has both.

Looks like it. When I sold it, It had Cragers,console and rear end housing was cracked (no ladder bars). Would still move but not drivable. Sold it in 1982 after it sat for a while... so inspection sticker looks about right. I'd like to research sticker to see if it was last inspected in McConnellsbug PA.
Please PM details on car. Thanks,Harold

supercar kid, brings back memories. My car did not have
green paint on the firewall, windshield wiper area. Are you sure this is original paint? Doesn't look like it to me.
In pittsburgh, and surrounding counties there were (2) 1969
Rallye green chevelles. Mine a black vinyl top, no stripe,
4 speed, 3.55 gears, m22 rock-crusher, rear antenna, tinted
windows, and my friend Tony a 69 325hp convertible, black
top, rear antenna. I am positive there were no other
69 rallye green chevelles in western pa. I was active in the
local drag race scene, I don't think there were any other
green chevelles within a few hundred miles, or more. I have
never heard of any other. I sold my car in 1972. The original motor long since gone, replaced with an L-88 raced
it then sold the L-88 and put a 1966 350hp hyd lifter motor
in it. I removed the chrome around the wheel wells, because
the M&H 10.65 would rub. just about everyone who raced Chevelles did this. ZL-1 H.O.... you have a great looking
car. certainly a rarity. the second day i had my car, I took
off the smog pump, intalled hooker headers, air shocks, etc.
In Pittsburgh, almost everybody customized (for racing) their cars.

Doug's car is an exceptional piece which has NO issues what so ever. The car has been repaired and from Doug's honest description of the work performed I have no doubt it was done professionally and with the utmost care. If I could manage to sell just one of the cars I currently have available I would buy the Chevelle and complete it myself. It is going to be stunning when finished. Good luck with the sale Doug!
