While at Indy last week....Jody and I were given a 3 hour, after hours personal tour by Jody`s good friend Donnie.
http://www.rayskillmanclassiccars.com/
Amazing....lots of you will recognize many of Ray`s Collection. All under one roof....85 thousand square feet. The most amazing part was the restoration shop. Sorry no pics of the Restoration Shop.
Ray and his collection are a sight to see. I called it the "Eight Wonder of the World" Better than the Grand Canyon....yet very Over Whelming. I could easily spend an entire week looking at this collection. The place was spotless...I mean Hospital Clean.

Just when I think I am doing ok and I could afford a L-78 Nova. I see pictures like these of one person's collection and I realize there are some real serious people collecting these cars with more ability and backing than I could ever dream of. A person could have a career in just keeping the place this clean. Dan, does the under hood picture with the aluminum heads belong to the blue Nova? Can you tell us more about what you saw please?

Its my understanding he is the owner of several car dealerships in the Indy area and loves 60s muscle cars and started this classic car sales/collection and sells about 75 to 100 muscle cars a year out of this collection. He also restores them as well. He is restoring a 67 Shelby GT 500 right now I am told. I watched him buy a bunch of cars at the fall Mecum event last year in St. Charles.

I would give anything to walk through that collection. Talk about having a one or two of everything.
That really is one impressive collection.
Nice touch w/the mannequins and that Dog'n Suds sign sure brings back some memories..
Looks like he acquired Georges' FG Chevelle too.

When you look at his web site you will see alot if not all these cars are for sale. And yes he appears to own a lot of dealerships in the INdy area. Kudo's to him for the way he presents his collection. I thought I recognises some of his inventory as being "auction fresh".

I had a chance to visit Mr Skillmans toy box last July. Yea the cars are neat but the building is a real piece of art. The floor is very impressive and it is very clean in there. Dan did you notice the conferance room on the second floor and the two hotel type rooms up there. The body shop is as good as any dealerships with the most up to date tools and booth. I think there were 8 bays in the back with a drive on dyno in the floor. And then the transport vehicles in the back he must have had at least 4 trailers and tow vehicles and 2 or 3 multi vehicle transportes all new. I don't believe this collection is open to the public.

I met Ray at a swap meet last year in Louisville. I had a 68 camaro rag top there for sale and he walked up like any other car guy and talked shop for about an hour. I didn't know who he was untill he left and handed me his business card and invited me to his collection. He was as interested in talking to me about my lil ole 25K vert and my restoration story as someone who didn't own such an amazing group of cars. When I visited he spent a significant amount of time with me and I'm sure he had more important things to do. Great Guy!

Our show has moved locations and dates. Now at the dupage expo center, 2 days....indoor and out. Aside from nats, this may be the biggest and the best all Pontiac show!

OK, Nice camera work Sammy. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
(Hey Darren, wanna borrow my trailer? You can bring the Z car back with you and it'll be Sammy's problem to get it back home after VF! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif )

That's a sharp looking Camaro

Nice looking Camaro.
A very top shelf operation. Also big participants and supporters of local and national drag racing scene.
Couple of side notes, he bought at an auction an old carnival carousel that was bought and planned for the infield at the Indy 500 back eons ago. Now it is fully restored and in the center of this collection.
Last year we bought a new GMC Yukon XL from his GMC Dealership. As we worked with the salesman on the deal, my wife threw out there that she had an old MG she might trade in. Most dealerships wouldn't have cared about a car like that, but the guy called Ray who came over, drove it and wanted it, so that helped on the XL deal. :)

Yes its a very nice car highly optioned great restoration but no documentation. The car was purchased as is by Ray years ago for the museum. The lack of documentation is a bummer for me ill need to ponder on this one, plus I just bought a V code Cuda and hate to dig more into the mad money....
Finding some history on the Camaro would definitely help on the decision.

Cool car but they put all those pictures up and not a single close up of the engine pad or trim tag? That's a flag that begs for a closer look.
