Just thought I would share some pictures of a friend's 1970 Nova SS 396/375HP L78 car. Car was originally bought new in 1970 at a local Chevy Dealership by his uncle and drag raced in the early 1970s. Car ran in the 10s for quarter mile times back then.

Car was recently purchased by the original owner's nephew and is slowly being put back together as stock. Car was originally a column shift turbo 400 car and still has same in it. This Nova was raced in 1971 under the name "Black Sabbath" and in 1972 under the name "Black Eye." Car is original tuxedo black car also. Car is very, very cool and the body is straight as an arrow!!

There are some photos of his car with mine, two 70 L78 column shift turbo 400 cars... Also in the pictures are Steve's Camaro and a another friend's cranberry red 70 Chevelle SS 396 car.. Enjoy...

That Black Sabbath Nova ROCKS !! He switched the name after he found another car with the same name at Norwalk..M&H's on the factory XT's, Lakewood bars...way too cool. Car was raced with a 2X4 carb set up as well as a 4 speed at one time....Car ran it's best with a Single 4 and the TH400...10.80's...This car was stripped from day one of all unnecessory items..In some of the pictures from 72 you could see a almost identical Nova in the driveway next to this car. It was, however, a SS 350 daily driver! How cool is that!

Very cool car - he might want to put the bb rad & hold-down stuff in it, looks like it could run hot with that little thing in there! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Thanks guys for the kind words!!

Marlin, yeah I was telling him about the radiator issues and the correct shroud and hold down.. He has been asking me alot of questions and looking at my car kind of as a "template" if you will for putting his back together as stock.. He is slowly learning & researching what correct stuff needs to be put back on.. Some of it is $$$ issues as well.. He is doing stuff slowly but wants to drive and enjoy the car while working on it..

He has done a great deal to the car already including body/ paint work.. The car was all set up for drag racing when he purchased it just like it was in the seventies & the old pictures, kind of like an "old drag time capsule!!" The car was sitting for many, many years.. Odometer only reads 1,800 miles!!
