1969 Camaro Z/28 Rally Sport - Incredible History

This RS Z/28 was delivered new in London, England and picked up by the original owner from General Motors Limited on November 21, 1968. It has a fabulous history of world travel that is documented with photos and paperwork that will amaze you.

I bought the car from the original owner in 2001. The car has never been advertised for sale before today. This is the only site you will find this car on and I don't know how long I'll leave it here.

The car was disassembled for resto in 1986 and I bought the unfinished project with a ton of NOS GM parts that were purchased when the resto began. The car is literally NOS GM from front bumper to rear bumper.

Parked at the African embassy in Mauratania. Yes, the car was painted Citrus Green in June, 1972. To arrive at this embassy the car was driven through portions af the Sahara Desert.

I know from export L88 Corvettes that GM would not delete smog equipment for any reason. Interesting to see if this holds true for this yellow Z.

Don't forget the good Lord is a Mopar man!.
In Genesis it says something like 'He drove Adam &amp; Eve from the Garden of Eden in His Fury'...also mentions His same model Plymouth a few more times in the Bible!.

A member here has a 68 L78 Canada car with smog delete.

Charley, I should have mentioned that this was for 1969. I think that they said across the board for NCRS judging that smog pumps weren't deleted for export cars in 1969. Who knows, though. I know that California L88's didn't have smog pumps in 1967 and some of the 20 were delivered to California.

Back to Camaro - quite the world traveled mobile!

The car has a little over 94K original. The mileage is documented in a log book of every maintenance item that was ever done to the car. The car has the original interior with the exception of a NOS package tray, NOS AM radio, NOS glove box insert, NOS window cranks, repo carpet and a repo shift ball. Seats, door panels, dash, seat belts and headliner are the factory installed units.

The car was delivered to London with the A.I.R. equipment intact. I specifically asked the original owner about that.

The car was not delivered to England with a POP or window sticker. If they would have been with the car, the owner would have kept them. The docs I have are much more impressive anyway. They are docs that cannot be reproduced as POP's and window stickers can today. I have the original order form, which contains all of the options ordered, made out by the firm of Landrum &amp; Hartman on Flood St. in London. I have receipts of the down payment, I have the owners copy of the paperwork provided by the shipping company that delivered the car to General Motors Limited. I have diplomatic papers from Africa along with the original handmade license plate the car wore during it's time in Africa. Many other interesting things.

By the way, if the JL8 option would have been available this early in production this car would have had it. The owner ordered it and it is clearly noted on the original order form. Darn!!!

The trim tag is not any different from any early Norwood built Camaro.

Oops! I forgot to address the luggage rack. Yes, the owner installed a luggage rack for a short while. Him, his wife and young son did a bit of sightseeing during the various assignments abroad. They also completed a cross country trip in the USA in 1976. The current deck lid on the car is not the original one.
