Appreciate the heads-up...just another reason why I don't use Fram oil filters.

With GM filters being in the ball park for pricing, I see no reason to buy anything else for our cars. In all my years, I've never had a problem with the AC filters.

I'm not real crazy about the newer AC filters (made by Champion Labs)...compare 'em to the old ones...the new ones have 8 smaller holes in the top versus 6 larger holes in the older filters...the bad part is they replaced the sturdy steel guts with flimsy material...you fellow racers that cut open your oil filters probably noticed this already.

check 'em out (http://www.knizefamily.net/minimopar/oilfilters/reference.html#champion)

I think we've got Wix on everything we own (except our Ally spin-on) *but* I'm thinking we have an AC on the Sub right now? One of those "it's late at night and this is all we had on the shelf and we're loading the trailer ASAP" type deals...I know, don't procrastinate! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Now, what I'd *like* is find an oil filter "stencil" with the old AC logo, and spray a good filter to look like the original AC one...maybe that's how I could make my millions, by making hi-performance but stock appearing oil filters! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I work at a commercial truck center and use Baldwin filiters exclusively on every car I own except on the '69 with the scalloped Canton pan where I use a K&N with the little nut welded on to the bottom...makes removal a snap http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Guess I haven't been looking close enough. It won't bother me to run Wix. Thanks for the heads up. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

LIke this one??
I have a case of them and was wondering if they would be ok to use them.I notice that inside of the filters is a metal
jacket looks like stainless.

no Frams for me. Purolator pure ones or K&N or mobil 1 filters only. AC used to be good until they sourced em overseas a few years ago..

If anyone is interested, I could cut open some filters and take some betters pictures...I *might* even be able to scrounge up some old school filters and take a peek inside them?
