Wanted 1974 z/28 dual snorkel air cleaner. This is a one year only air cleaner. Similar to the 70-73 dual snorkel.

Please PM me if you can lead me to one or have one for sale.

Thanks http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Is that the one that is for a quadrajet that is slightly smaller diameter than the 70-72 with the pipe out of the bottom right/rear? If so I may have a bottom (no lid).

I am not sure exactly what the difference is. It is for the quadrajet.

Thanks for the PM Mark.

That is why I asked about the size, I am not sure if it is a correct for a 1974 Z28, I got it with a 1974 Camaro I bought 10 years ago in Georgia. The lid for the 70 Z is to large for it but I didn't get a lid with it.

Ok, here are some pictures of a '74 Z28 air cleaner. The snorkles measure just a hair over 2 3/4" long, when measured down the middle of the snorkle, from the body to the end. The overall diameter is 15 1/4". There weren't any decals applied to the lid from the factory.

This air cleaner was an early version that was used on non-HEI cars. HEI was introduced in January 1974. The larger diameter of the HEI distributor forced Chevy to make a bigger "dent" in the air cleaner body for clearance. This difference may have forced a different part number to be applied to the HEI version, but I don't know if that is a fact.
I hope this helps.

Ray, your base doesnt look like the right one.
Mark, those are great pics and info. I read on the 2nd gen site the the air cleaner is the same for HEI. I am definately interested in buying yours. I'll take it to PM.

Ray's air cleaner looks to be one for a 'vette.

I was not sure what it went to, looks like it is not for a 74 Z. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I think so also, we used to get them from the vettes and massage them for a holley and run them on cowl hood first gens with hood gaskets and original gm finned valve covers....looked pretty cool.
