I thought I would share some pic's of my 69 L78 car with all of you, if you guys are like me, it's easier to look at pictures that read http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
I got Black Beauty almost 10 years ago as a half done project with most all the stuff to finish her.
The last owner added a cowl hood and a rear spoiler. I added 5 spoke SS wheels w/ Diamond Back Redlines.
The car was born with a SS hood, no spoiler, Ralley Wheels W/Redlines.
She has needed some serious cleaning after nearly 10 years of driving. So after finishing up the Grady Nova I went to work on Black Beauty.

New: GM SS hood, flat trunk, XT look wheels W/ Kelsey tire's F70 14 Goodyear redline wide tread GT's, and the poverty caps.

And a bunch of clean up and new Cad plating under the hood.
So who likes the old look ? And who likes the new look ?

Before:

Some cars have the right look no matter how you detail them. This is one of those cars.

Ditching the radials was the best visual improvement you could have made... the rest is just icing on the cake. I like everything you changed better than what you changed it from. Great color combo.

There is the exact same car locally here. M22, L78 everything. The car here is a 30,000 mile all original survivor with docs. That is a sweet car mike. The black with the red stripe is perfect. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

But one thing DOES stand out to me..... the quality of the photos! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

I think the new look is killer. Those steel wheels gives it some serious attitude. That black with red stripe is stunning either way.

That was part of the plan http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif I mist a good one on Pee Bait last winter.
Maybe next year.

Isn't that a cool shot ? Low light seems to always make the most killer shots of a car.
Thanks to all for you great comments and opinions. I new you guys a suckers for pictures http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Car looks great, like the new look much better and have a soft spot for the dog dish.

That looks like a differant car ,looks great. Did you try to rotate the tire 180 on the L.H. rim to try to eliminate so of the wheel weight ? It looks like alot of weight there.

m22mike
06-13-2008, 05:02 AM
It does look like alot. Up on the I-State @ 60 -70 it is smooth as silk, go figure. And it tracks good.
I am mildly surprised at how OK the bias plys are. However the car cornered way better with Radials and the 1" sway bar I put on some years back.
So far I have been to just two cruise nights, and everybody's digging it.
Thanks Mike http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

That looks REALLY nice. Dare to be different: no spoilers and no cowl hood. Car has a "no frills" Day 1 street racer look now. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

A very nice car indeed!

What leaf springs are your using?

I want to know since my 67 needs springs and i'm doing my research on the ride hieght of all my options.

m22mike
06-15-2008, 06:19 AM
Back when I put this car together, I went with the Eaton springs. There functional, but not correct if your concerned about that sort of thing. I do wish now I had spent the extra $$ and went with the correct looking reproduction springs. The fronts are Moog BB springs I got at Summit. Sits OK I think.

Mike,

You did a great job on the make-over. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif The car is spectacular. Here are a few shots from last nights Solon, Ohio cruise in. I just had to post these.

Quite a few folks stopped in their tracks when they saw Mike's car. Rightfully so.

500+ cars in attendance.
