Went up to the Wis Dells and took some pic's of what was once a Beautiful Lake.....While we were on Power Tour, due to Heavy Rain and Extreme Flooding......The lake overflowed it's bank and washed out the land Area between itself and the Wisconsin River.....the Washout took with it 5 houses and drained the lake in a very short time......Had a Lot of good times on that Lake........That was then and here are some Pic's of now.....Sad.....

The lake looks as it was so full of silt is was only 5 feet deep. Maybe they can clean the silt and repair the damn and put it back better than ever.

Very unfortunate. I spent many a summer on that lake as a child. Reports state that 93% of the businesses are still open but need the help of visitors if they come to see the damage. Just one such place, stop by and eat breakfast or lunch. They can use the help.

Howie's place (http://www.howiesrestaurant.com/)

Where was your house at Ken? Did it suffer any damage?

Glad to hear your home buyers suffered no damage.

I read about this in The Chicago Tribune when I was in Chicago last weekend. What a shame to see Lake Delton gone.

It sure is! As unfortunate as it is for those who lost their homes, they may be better off than those who now have a primary residence or vacation home without the view and use of the lake front they paid a premium for. Any insurance guys know if your homeowners policy pays for a loss of value like this from an "Act of God?"

I don't handle personal lines insurance, but "movement of earth" is an exclusion just as "flood" is an exclusion. I believe these homeowners are screwed. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I know that the people that owned the big house that went down the river didn't have flood insurance and are out everything there...it was their vacation house(on the local news)...they had a couple hundred thousand left to pay also...OUCH!

Yes.....It made it to the River, But ...down by the Rivers Edge Resort the river got Real shallow and it probably broke up or got stuck in that area......

I feel for the people who the DNR is trying to screw http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif

I would bet, however, that they will rebuild (and improve!) the area that washed out causing the lake to drain, and the lake will eventually be restored http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

I read that they hope to have the washed out areas repaired and the lake refilled by late July. Seems awfully optimistic, but I hope they can make it happen. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
