Numbers Matching 1970 SS 396 Chevelle. This car is un-restored. This is not a show car. I have owned this Chevelle for three years and would drive it anywhere and have. It runs and drives great. Not a show car but a very original solid Chevelle SS. With the exception of a small patch on the left rear lower quarter panel all the sheet metal is factory original to this car and rust free. The floors and trunk pan are solid. The car is very complete. Most of the hard parts on the car are original/correct with the exception of the radiator and the thermostat housing. I have the original/correct master cylinder and water pump that came with the car. Interior appears to be mostly original and in good condition with a rip in the drivers seat and one on the rear seat back. The headliner is original and will need to be repaired or replaced. The vinyl top appears to be original and shows its age. Original color Astro Blue code 25. One repaint many years ago. Paint shows well for its age. Appears to have all its original weather-stripping. All the glass is original with the exception of the front glass. A/C blows cold but the compressor rattles. AM 8 Track needs repair. The only rust damage I’ve found on the entire car is behind the rear glass on the driver’s side at the corner of the glass. Documented with its original Protect-O-Plate.

Additional Info along with casting numbers, date codes & options can be found at the eBay Auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140246081337&ssPageNam e=ADME:X:AAQ:MOTORS:1123) Reserve is 25,900.00

If you have any questions or need additional pictures please feel free to contact me. Thanks Rick 713-705-2491

Excellent ad and terrific stamp pad picture! If it doesn't sell put some stripes on it.

Thanks for the comments. People seam to love seeing the un-restored cars even when they are not, like new original-paint survivors. It’s been a fun car to own because I can drive it anywhere, any time. It’s been an amazingly dependable car…..damn, even the key buzzer works.

Howard – you’re probable right. If I put strips on it it would have wider appeal and most likely sell quicker and possibly for more $$$. But, I really haven’t been able to bring myself to make any changes to the car. About the only thing I’ve done is replaced the rear springs, which I kept because they both had the original paper tags on them.

Thanks again

Man I love that car as is.... without the stripes,
very clean look.
Was it possible to have no stripes with the functional cowl hood?
I've only seen no-stripe cars with the domed hood.

I've only seen no-stripe cars with the domed hood.

That's because the stripes weren't included with the standard domed hood. You had to pay extra & say you wanted the D-88 F&R stripes if you stuck with the domed hood. They were automatically included with the functional hood.

Was it possible to have no stripes with the functional cowl hood?

Sure,if the customer ordered the ZL-2 functional hood, then said "Now Delete the D-88 Stripes" to the salesman for a $68.50 credit.
That is a nice looking color combo & thorough description as well.
