Firebird doors ARE NOT the same. Body line is slightly lower

Correct, Firebird doors are different due to lower body line.
As for interchangability, you can use 70 to 81 doors. The only difference is that in about 75 they made the inset that the exterior door handle covers (the space your fingers would extend into when opening the door,) about a 1/2 inch shorter than the earlier doors. They made the exterior handle shorter by an equal amount as well.
Also depending upon what you are using them for, the interior door handle and arm rest had a different mounting location that started in the later 70's.
Since you are looking for doors for an '81 you will have a much easier time locating what you need. That really hard ones to locate are the 70 to 73 doors.
Also, the repro door skins that Goodmark and others sell are the ones with the narrower exterior door handle stamping and are the correct ones for your model year. I hear that they are rather good. (us early year 2nd gen guys have a lot of trouble locating the longer door handle stamped door skins. - I lucked out finding an NOS early door skin on ebay a year ago after searching for 3 years)

72 0r 73 and up has a reinforcing bar at the break line and they weigh about 60# more than the earlier doors...
Thanks again guys. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/youguysrock.gif.I have located some but they are always too far a way and the shipping will kill me!!..I have time and wil keep searching for a pair more local to me or even a pair near a member that I can meet up with later.
