Anyone have any tips for the brand and type of seam sealer and application method for the seam aound the inside of the trunk lid? I would like to get it look as close to original as possible.

Bill,
I use 3M brand which is the offwhite /tan color of the orignal stuff. I use a 1/2-3/4" wide paint brush on the firewall seams.

Good advice, but I didn't and made a mess. I tried 2 3M products. First I tried the tan stuff that comes in a caulking tube but found it was too hard to brush well and ended up cleaning it off. I think this stuff may have been old as it was very dry and hard to work. For the second try I applied 3M brushable seam sealer with a small paint brush. The bristles on the brush I cut back to about a 1/2 inch and that worked just fine to apply it and brush it out.
