No Bill Miller ( William J. Miller) hasn't been located. He had a daughter in 72 ish and he should about 69. He may have relocated to FL.

This is an older thread but IMO, worthy of reviving.

That is one awesome story! Thanks for taking the time to write it up and share it.

I bought my '68 from the original owner that was 76 years old, He'd bought it for his only child and his son passed shortly thereafter. He kept it original, garaged and in great condition all those years. I came across it by chance in '83 but he wouldn't even consider selling it. Finally, after 3 years of my hounding him he sold it to me when I was 26. I got the protect-o-plate, and all of the service records since it was new and with only 47k miles. I kept it until '02 as I had taken a fancy for one of those new 4th gen Camaros so I sold it and quickly realized my mistake. I regretted it for years and my son hounded me all those years for selling it. Finally, 21 years later in '22 the gentlemen that I sold it to, who was about 12yrs. my senior decided to sell it. So, I jumped at the chance and bought it back, so it's back where it belongs. Still in the same great condition as when I had it before with still only 85k miles.

I will take some time and do a write up about it. There is a unique story of how he happened on it and acquired it and how I happened upon it and acquired it, both times.

Great back-stories make great cars even better!

Might I suggest collaborating with Bruce, AKA Xplantdad, on a "Members Rides" feature so that your thread won't become lost over time. You will be happy that you did...:beers:

Steve I still have to get over my brother's house and find that picture of your Z you bought from Paul back in the mid 1970s at the chews landing mall auto show.

Well it's been almost 12 years since I installed the rebuilt original engine. Although the engine on the dyno produced great power over 400hp and 367 lb/ft torque, it had low oil pressure 10lb at 1100 rpms and noticeable vibration at high rpms. I had contacted the machine shop but not interested in reconciling. Fast forward 10 years 2500 miles I also started noticing engine running rough when starting and ultimately found water leak into cylinder #8 after changing plugs.

I pulled the engine in Aug 24 and used a different machine shop. The engine was determined to have multiple issues many of which the original rebuilder caused.

Well, take two, just reinstalling the rebuilt engine. My trusting helper was not available (my daughter now is a wife and mother of 4 children ages 9 years to 9 months).
I'm very excited to drive the car again, it's been over a year since I took it off the road.

What a perfect Christmas present.
