The tape was for the water test and was sticky side up against the floor pan. The idea that the bushings were somehow taped up is an old wives tale as far as I know. Why would you tape a body bushing up side down when all you need to do is set it on the frame.

There was a large piece above the bump stop mount in Beater here is a pic of the rear inner wheel well, I was trying to get the paint finish in pic but you an see it above the bump stop.
