I have returned the shortblock back to the person I bought it from due to the concerns of the stamping on the front pad. If anyone would be interested in it I can pass along his contact information.

I do want to add one other thing to this. The passenger car was also built at the same plant as the corvette. Does anyone know how many were built in 1965? I wonder if it is possible that the gang stamp was set for a passenger car and was accidently not changed before stamping it on the corvette application? I don't know what the answer is on this one but wanted to ask that question.

Dennis, The Passenger car plant and the Corvette plants were two entirely different facilities.

I was just going by Chevy by the numbers showing that the St. Louis, Missouri plant built them at the same location. This is located on page 5 of the book.

Yep, St. Louis is the "same location", along with a 1000 other businesses, but different plants.

My father actually worked at both plants in the late-Sixties and they were extremely close to each other. Only like a block or two apart so even St. Louis people got them mixed up when they said something like the "Chevrolet Plant". He had a job at the end of the Assembly Line where he would fix little things that were wrong with the cars before they went out to the holding lots.

Now I know Camaros were not built in St. Louis but my father always talked about seeing a Pre-Production 1970 1/2 Camaro Z-28 at the Chevrolet Plant that an Engineer was driving that had a "370 HP" sticker on the air cleaner instead of the more well known "360 HP".

Thanks for all of your help on this shortblock. I believe the guy I bought it from is an honest person and he had no problem taking it back and I told him I would let him know if anybody would have an interest in it. I think it was stamped incorrectly from the factory. I just don't know if a corvette guy would want something like that or not.
