Contact Coker tire. Maybe they can help with the situation. I will do some investigation of my own.

Thanks Rusty - was the DOT date code a standardized (I would think so) format or did each manufacturer have their own system?

Here is a date code out of what I believe to be an original Uniroyal spare in my March built 72 if it is any help.

Thanks Jake -

Is the "2" at the end of your code for 1972? I think the "AJL7" is Uniroyal's plant. That portion of the code does not appear (nor is there room for it) on my tire. I have been told my tire is for a Jan 70 built car.

Yes it is/was with our COPO car. Our 396 car came with whitewalls but I don't know the brand.

Might be Sam - I am unsure of the numbering system but that would seem to make sense - although you do not have a "0" at the end of your code - it is at the beginning. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Bill - I sent them an email yesterday and received a reply today saying the code was incomplete https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif . So i forwarded a photo (1st post above) and will see what they (Shirley) say.

The code on my tires was H0730T ; six digits, same as yours, so I don't know what's "incomplete" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif Maybe you could tactfully suggest that 'Shirley' consult with 'Ken' and see if they can come up with something https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Do you think the 3rd alpha numeric indicates the year?

Re: Tire Date Code decipher...Please!

It's aggravating....I received a very prompt reply and it coincided exactly with what I was told when I bought the tires, so I figured they really had their you-know-what together regarding codes on the older tires. Then everyone else gets skunked when asking essentially the same question https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Keith's code kinda throws a monkey wrench into that theory.
