Absolutely right. That is his only leverage over these guys.

That rotted rear rail is a disaster waiting to happen. Jeez. Can't believe someone would offer something like that, sell it, and sleep at night.

Re: Check this out - '68 Camaro buying experience

I've been following this on Yellow Bullet and E-mailed the place telling them about the great advertising they are getting....here is the response I got.........

We did offer to buy the car back from the guy but he demanded $4000 instead.
We didn't want him to keep the car if he wasn't happy with it. We would have
rather bought the car back and sent it out to be repaired at our expense.
From the time he first contacted us and sent us pix of the car, he already
had the car completely dismantled. He clearly chose to dismantle the car and
repair it himself.
How many classic car dealers would offer to buy a car back when we don't
have to do so.
If I bought a car sight unseen and it showed up, I would thoroughly look it
over before I would start dismantling it.
If I wasn't satisfied with what I had seen, I would request to return it
immediately. I would expect to pay for shipping if I didn't go see the car
or have it inspected.
We strongly encourage customers to come and see the car or have it
inspected.
In this case he chose not to do so and is blaming us for misrepresenting the
car. As he said himself in the video these things would not have been found
in a normal inspection. Which is what we do when we buy them. We are not a
service center, we're a showroom only dealer with a detail dept. Now that
you've heard from both sides, use your best judgment.

Thank You.

The seller's statement lost me at "...As he said himself in the video these things would not have been found
in a normal inspection...".. as even if there's video of the Icelandic lad saying that it doesn't instantly release the seller from all responsibility!.

Being the seller's business speciality is specifically dealing w/ cars like this on a regular basis you'd have to consider they were well aware of exactly what they had on their hands but even more importantly how they then chose to represent it!.

I'd look for examples of contradiction between specific concerns that exist w/ the actual car itself and how these were individually represented to this buyer from afar?.

The photos on the video were taken of the car while it was still assembled and they are VERY obvious. Rust in several areas as well as bondo in the frame. Kind of hard to hide that!

Reference to "these things would not have been found in a normal inspection" was with regards to the windshield trim flying off and then showing rust holes in the area below it. That would have not been seen in an inspection. I also have heard nothing of a buy back option as Skuli first told me that this car was going to cost more to repair than he paid for it.

They have been on my radar for sometime and have seen there cars on ebay. My opinion is they are in good company with another unethical dealership previously discussed on here, Harwell motors of texas. Most dealers are ok, but always do your homework.
