Sorry Bill, I must hit a nerve! And I'm talking about the eBay guy, not the people who posted here. And I would in a second call me a fool to his face, actually more then likely not as PC though. I also called out another builder and respected "seller" that just happen to be stringing on a car that wasn't "exactly" what he was claiming, read RESRAMPED engine.

The way I see it, this "FOOL" is trying to pass over the fact that this is a car with an ZL-1 engine that he believes is the correct # engine for ZL-1 #62. YES it's a beautiful car, and looks stunning, but it is what it is, a '69 Camaro (possibly Z-28) that has had an engine swap. Now after his "glossing over" of the info. someone less knowledgeable might get coerced into buying it not really understanding what it is.

----Nope,,,EZ. No worries...No bad at all. I will add that, although I am no "JM" fan, he did take a look at the stamp and apparently liked it.
----Its a difference of opinion, of course but I dont see "someone less knowledgeable" being coerced into anything. Buyers need to ask for help if they want something that they cannot competently evaluate themselves. If someone has too big an ego to ask for help they just may deserve what they get, although I dont wish that on anybody.
----Another difference of opinion, I guess, but I didnt view his add as being a complete "gloss over". Everybody wants to put thier car in the best light they can. Bunches of guys are hugely deceitful in thier adds, but while he was upbeat about the car, as far as I can see he left none of the bad out. He just put it in as posative a way as he could. You wouldnt do the same??? Thats the way I took the add. Sorry you didnt see it the same way, but no harm either way as far as I am concerned.....Bill S

Guys, no problem. BUT I've seen it a few times where some that has large $$$ gets caught in the Barrett-Jackson syndrome and pays on that. Sorry, it's weird to say. Not "taken" or misled, but like the guy who bought the re-bodied car that found out after on this site that it was a rebody. Ya know what I'm saying???

I have some guys that are getting into car in the last 12-16 months and paying LARGE for cars that are not worth that $$$. But due to the fact that they have UNLIMITED $$$$, and that they fell belittled by asking others for help. Like the SB '66 Chevelle. Paid over 50K and it's rough really. An honest 10 footer. Non original driveline. BUT he say cars on B-J and thought it was a goo deal??? I told him it's cheaper for him to pay me $100K a year and buy/sell cars?boats and planes for him.

I guess what pisses me off if that he's trying to but the spin on the car. Just call it a TRIBUTE with the original engine out of #62 and leave it at that. BUT to put in the add, "what makes an original car, the motor or body"? and "ponder that for a while" just seems deceptive I guess, at least to me.

It's all good.

Beautiful car, Stunning car in fact.

I'm a big fan of all things ZL-1.

However, I find it......entertaining when a seller needs 12 paragraphs of verbiage to explain to the buyer what he's looking at and what dots need to be connected.

"If you're at all familiar with the market, you know that the last aluminum ZL1 block to become available sold for $75,000" Really, I guess I missed that one. Maybe I should buy the one I know of for 45K that has all the factory internals with it.

"does the body or the engine make it a real ZL1?"....The body makes it a real ZL-1, the engine makes it run like a real ZL-1.

"Would a real ZL1 body with a replacement iron 427 still be a ZL1 Camaro" I think we all know the answer to that..YES!!!

Joe gets a heart transplant. The heart comes from a guy name Bill. Joe doesn't change his name to Bill.

I don't think you would ever see an auction house refer to a Camaro with a real ZL-1 engine as a ZL-1. On the other hand any real ZL-1 body with any engine or no engine would always be referred to as a ZL-1.

There's nothing blatantly false about the ad but clearly by virtue of the ad copy and the price 180K??? the seller is trying to make the case that there's little difference between two.

Beautiful car though.

That is exactly my point. Thank you. BUT a ZL-1 is worth $45K??? I have a 052 block and 074 heads along with a '198 and '163 intakes, BUT all are '72 dates.

Nice analogy, but I like the one about Pam Anderson and Schoneye better - it's a few years old now, but it's a better visual!
