Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology
Bergy,
I don't understand the dates either. As I said earlier, I remember reading something about them years ago but my memory isn't what it used to be? Ed |
Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology
That sticker is very vivid.
Striking color combo,and with redlines too....Nice. |
Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology
Ed - that is a really pretty car with outstanding options!

Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology
The handwritten "101" is the job number and should be within 1-6 or 500-506 of the last 3 digits of the vin#. The job# would also be marked on the body in the engine compartment and underside. Since there is no vin no. on the tank sticker the job no. is used to tie the sticker to a particular car.

Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology
Howard,
That is cool information. I've found a number of tank stickers and never knew that. The VIN of this car is 713601. Job #101 plus 500. I will post some more pictures later today and look for the 101 number on the car. Thanks, Ed |
Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology
date format is year/month/day or year/day/month depending on your trim tag date. Roger

Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology
finally a small block with some gear! Very nice Ed. Congrats!

Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology
Roger,
Thanks for the input. I knew that there was something weird about the date formats. The body tag is F20 or January 20th, 1969. The engine is a 618 block assembled January 11th. So, it must be one of the first redesigned blocks. Dan, Thanks, I knew that you would like this one. Ed |
Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology
Yep - checked with Al Grenning - That's the format for '69's.

Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology
Once we dropped the spare tire and tank sticker, I was on the phone to Rusty Small and ordered a reproduction set of Goodyear Redlines for the Corvette.
