Re: Need Help , Yenko, Motion , Scuncio Vega
I appreciate all the replies Ive been wrestling with this idea for some time now, I think I am definately going to put ralleys on it.. i like the way the ralleys look down the cowl hood and coming off the front spoiler and down the rear over the rear spoiler.. Its just the color of the ralleys thats got me stumped what to go with..taht will match my cream colored orange... as far as leaving it stock and being done..I can do that or I thought I could have a little more fun with it and go further.. but not sure .. I found a couple posts of the vega stingers that state there were V8s yenkos that were done after the fact.. if there existed V8's in the vegas that were sort of unofficial but still yenkos.. how much wrong is it to clone one.. or again will it be snickered upon like someone driving a shelby Camaro into a car show??
from old post 2006: There are 2 Yenko stingers that I know of that were later day conversions. Both went through the Holub family. One was light blue, the other was silver. The silver one was at one time claimed to be a Yenko transplant, but was in fact converted by the dad of a board member here. Jeff Morocco. Not that I know of, but Yenko did offer a V8 conversion kit in it's catalog, and several Yenko Vegas got small blocks stuffed in them early in life. I know the Silver one did, and our Red one was in the process of getting one whenever the military shipped off it's owner... _________________________ Rob Clary - '69 Yenko Camaro |

IMO, you will always have someone point to another persons car and make neg. comments about it. Doesn't matter if it's a 100% correct clone or era theme in most peoples eyes, it's going to happen. Don't worry about it. If you done a Stinger clone with a V8 I think it would be fine.
I would go all the way though with era correct wheels, tires and other parts under the hood and on the car. To me, I don't care much for seeing a period correct build with 99% correct parts, but then install a red set of modern MSD plug wires. But if the owner likes it and they are happy, that's all that matters in the end. That's what hot rodding was always supposed to be. |
Re: Need Help , Yenko, Motion , Scuncio Vega
I love V8 Vegas and would like to have one myself; maybe someday. If I had yours I would add Cragar wheels or something a little more period correct (I'm sure the Welds are correct, they just look dated to me).
If you're struggling with deciding on color for your stripes maybe you could find someone on one of the forums you frequent who is good with Photoshop; they could create a sketch of your car with any of the colors you're considering and, if you don't like a color it's only on the computer and not the car. Again, just my opinion, but, if you're considering cloning one of the tuner Vegas from the day (Motion, Yenko; etc.) I would think you have to make it as authentic looking as possible to make it worth while. Clones are frowned upon by many people to begin with and a half-assed one will be frowned upon even more. |

Found this pic I was thinking of when you first posted. Got any designs or sketches on how you are leaning?
