I wouldn't trust it at all. Sounds like a scam to me.

PayPal told me once that their emails will always be addressed to you by your full name.

Phoned paypal today and changed a couple things. She explained that the format was changed 4/1 to keep the feds informed of money travel. You no longer have the option of having money banked within paypal unless you provide your tax info. So, you must claim money received and transfer it to your linked bank account. It won't automatically deposit into your paypal acct.

After reading this post, along with some other posts on different sites about all the stuff they are doing now, I am through with PP. I just emptied my account of all the cash there.

It's legit. I got the same message 2 weeks ago and it's part of the anti money laundering initiatives from Canadian and US tax bureaus. If you have nothing to hide its no big deal.

I sent them the docs they wanted because there are few options for sending and receiving funds across the border between US/Canada.
