My friend Jim Webb from Sherman Oaks is the person who had it up to a few years ago when he passed away. George Lyons got it from Jim's estate along with five other cars of Jim's. Jim Webb had always admired this car from when he first saw it at the Super Chevy show and subsequently in the magazine article. He was the one who added the headrests and maybe a couple of other options. He always liked the high option cars and had acquired a lot of rare and desirable stuff out of cars in the salvage yards back when that was still possible.

Yeah, if you zoom in on the pictures you can see a lot of checking and fading of the original lacquer. And there is a large area on the hood where it looks like someone was wheeling it out and went completely through the paint. But the car is very straight and rust free. Would be a relatively easy repaint. |

Thanks for posting the pic! |
Such an iconic 1st Gen with that unforgettable Super Chevy cover. It’s hard to believe that this was only a 14-year old car when that was published!

If I weren't about to start the restoration of 67 L78 I would have bidded on this car. Very nice. I noticed the trim tag does not have the Y code for the headrest seats and the earlier magazine pics do not show them either. But still a very nice car.
