As far as the 1967 Yenko goes, the COPO Connection will not issue a certificate on any car that is missing either the original vin plate or the trim tag. That has been our policy for years. But I would love to own this car if the paperwork on the vin and title could be straightened out!

Ed, if a car with a missing VIN tag and missing trim tag has matching documentation from Yenko, would you then issue a COPO certification? Especially for a 67 since the VIN tag is on the door and doors get swapped around easily. If there is adequate paperwork showing the car's heritage would it qualify for certification then?

I thought the vin tag was on the lower cowl not the door! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

To answer your question, no. Since vin tags, stamps, etc. can be created, we make sure that the body number matches the vin per our records. Someone attempting to recreate a Yenko would not know the correct body number. Also, in this case there is no title or title history for the Yenko vin.

So in this situation the car might have never been titled since it was a race car from day 1. Even with the hidden VIN's on the body and paperwork from Yenko, you wouldn't be able to certify it? That makes for a tough situation. I guess this car could really be a big question mark in some peoples eyes with the tags missing. What could be done to certify a car like this when you're 99.9% sure nobody restamped the body's hidden VINs?
