Re: CowlTag? How about my SS # too?

But the fact of the matter is this; as many an article on the 427 Camaro that has been written claiming this and that and that this nut was this way, and that mark was that way..YOU WEREN'T THERE; nor was I. [/ QUOTE ] Let's get real! These cars were built on an assembly line, in mass production. Maybe you're not a "clipboard guy" who pays any attention to "nuts" or "marks" but there are plenty of guys here who do, and who have learned a thing or two about the production of these cars, without being there. If you think that's meaningless than you must think all of the research and information gathered by the "clipboard guys" who frequent this site must be worthless and irrelevant too, so why should they share their findings and opinions with the likes of abrasive and contrary folks like yourself? I think you know better but like to play dumb. If none of this matters, and every car stands alone, then why post pics of a funky door stamping and ask for opinions on what may have happened at the factory if you already have written off all of the answers? Please forgive the "clipbord guys." They have this habit of making their judgements based on facts which they come to through this annoying research. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif [ QUOTE ] I'll have to dig-out of the attic the plastic booklet pouch that has all that GM stuff in it. If I recall, that metal "credit card" thingy is in there too??? When I find time, I'll go and find it. [/ QUOTE ] 'Spose you do that...or do we have to pay $250 to see that too? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif [ QUOTE ] He looks under the peice of paper over the tag....and kinda got real quite. I thought maybe he passed out or something. Without a muttering a word, he turns and then says "you're right, nice car" . He never bothered me again at any show. [/ QUOTE ] Imagine that? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |

a judge almost passed out when he saw your trim tag?
this sounds like the making of a soap opera. You can call it "As the Trim Tag Turns" maybe "cry baby" Charlie can put on a micro mini and play the shows love interest https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |

[/ QUOTE ] If somebody has the original plastic bag with the owners manual, warranty book & POP, why would it be in some unknown place in the attic? I know exactly where mine are and they are just a few feet away from me. |

<font color="blue">Can't we just delete this post.

It's a perfect example of 427 Camaro built when most all of us never knew who was doing what at GM with these muscle cars. [/ QUOTE ] When most all of us never knew who was doing what at GM? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif I guess he means when most all of us didn't know who was doing what at GM, but we certainly do now, thanks to legitimate owners of legitimate unmolested cars who will opnely share their information and offer up their cars for those pesky "clipboard guys" to do their research on. If you don't want anyone to see your trim tag or ask any questions about your car's origin and authenticity, then why haul it to Vette Fest and have to stand guard over your trim tag all weekend? I guess because you don't want any more heart conditions caused by whatever might be on it, maybe the mystery 1 of 1 SS427 codes? And I'm a "dreamer?" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif [ QUOTE ] It's not been rebuilt or restored with ALL the COPO or 427 or "whatever you want to built" parts that are on available. [/ QUOTE ] Well what is it then? Looks to me like it's had plenty rebuilt...paint, engine, shifter, gauges, wheels, tires, SS427 badges, wheel well mouldings, the list goes on. We can all see the car was in full race trim when purchased...so what makes it so original and unmolested now? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif [ QUOTE ] Most original SS427 around. [/ QUOTE ] Actually there aren't any "original SS427" Camaros around...period...including this one, whatever it is. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif |

It may be possible he was being polite,& didn't want to upset you. |

Re: CowlTag? How about my SS # too?
A cowl tag doesn't prove or disprove a car. Real documents do. This site has alot of very helpful knowegable people who have been documenting these cars for along time. I wouldn't alienate them. Iv'e gotten alot of great help from here from guy's that did it just because they love the cars like I do.

Re: CowlTag? How about my SS # too?
Easy guys. Give him a chance to show us what he has. The SS emblems are a mystery but if nobody has seen the car in person(I think Eric has) then why are we jumping to conclusions. It sure looks like a classic old race car regardless of the originality of the 427. Who wouldn't like to have a car like that! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif
