Look how wide that stripe is on Rocky's Rocket... is that either an incorrect restoration or did they do different size stripes? The MindBender stripe is definitely more pleasing.

I first discovered B-M cars in an east coast Camaro magazine special published in 1982. In that speecial was an article on the so-called "discovery" of an original '68 B-M Phase III Camaro but the photos used for that article were the same ones from the January 1969 "Mindbender" article I posted in a separate thread.

I remember reading that 1982 article and immediately wanting a Stinger hood and SS 427 emblems for my '67. I got the fever and wanted my own B-M look-alike. ("Clone" hadn't been invented yet.)

My guess is that same 1982 magazine prompted others to modify their Camaros and this blue '68 in the circa-1983 magazine could be a look-alike (clone). No Stinger hood, SS 427 emblems on the spoiler and front fenders, etc., all lean toward clone and not genuine B-M car. Maybe it was real and when it was restored back then the emblems were incorrectly placed. Only Rocky, and I suppose Joel Rosen, knows for sure.

No one probably cared in 1983 whether such a car was "correct" or not, they just wanted the bad-ass "SS 427" look. That blue '68 does look good with the Cragars, jacked stance and big meats.

It'd be nice if Rocky would suddenly appear on this forum and explain the car for us!

Well, that MindBender article definitely lit a fire in me that pushed me over the fence on my decision to build a Motion clone. It came to this board at exactly the right time. The goal is for the body to look exactly like MindBender (except Silver stripe) and then even reshoot the same photographs.

I now bought that MindBender article, as well as another MindBender article that I hadn't seen, from e-bay. As soon as I receive them, I'll post a pointer to high-quality (reprintable) scans.

Sorry about the hijack... I'm just excited about MindBender. Rocky is a little blaise.

I love the shot with no hood and him pulling out onto the road. Looks like it has redlines with standard wheels for Dog dish hubcaps.

Could be that Rocky's Rocket is just a "Baldwin" Chevy Camaro that he made to look like a Motion? Back to the spoiler issue, I think that most did not have spoilers.

To me, it seems Joel prefered his favorite emblem (SS 427) on the trunks rather than the spoiler with the emblem somewhere else.

I think it was a money thing more than anything..he could pop a emblem on and be done...if they went with the spoiler someone had to pay for it paint and install it....Mark thats one really neat car...two thumbs up!!!

Car looks great Mark----Most of the fellas would normally go money on performance first and if anything left over--bells and whistles--Don't think the spoiler was a priority on those early B/M Camaros---
