Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Bill, thanks for responding.
Any idea where that car is today? Is it possibly one of the three that Brian mentioned earlier? Did it have the column shifter? Lastly, was it a 427 (L/72), 427 (L-88), etc.? I actually didn't know they did L-88 conversions. Steve |
Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Yes, it is currently black, Kevin S has the other car in that group. There may be other COPO's, but I have not seen any more. The Silver car sounds like a COPO car also. The earlier 69's were SS convereted cars..BKH

Brian,
How early is "earlier"? Specifically, the approximate build date(s). Steve |
Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Good morning,
I currently own the Glacier Blue (currently black) DH COPO with the blue interior. The car had a wing at one time. This is evidenced by the four welded over holes on either side of the trunk lid and a photo that was sent to me from Howard Martin who purchased the car in 1971. This is one of the three COPOS that Dick Harrell purchased through Bill Allen Chev. Bill Ogle has one and Kevin Suydam has the third one. After owning the car for four years, I still do not know everything about the car but am willing to share what I do know. |
Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Thanks John !
I certainly want to know all that I can about these DH cars. Have-at-it! Steve |
Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
John, one other question for you. How badly do you want to
find one of those original wings? Steve |
Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Hi Steve,
I am not a restoration expert but I spoke to one that is. Brian and I talked recently and I asked him to put my car in his restoration pipeline. It seems to me that an original wing would be a postive addition but I would defer that answer to Brian. You apparently know the location of one. There were probably only a handful made, I would be extremely interested in how you located one. John |
Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
John, cool car.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif and no better shop to do the restoration then the SCW. I would wager they have restored more DH cars then all other shops combined, making them the leading authority on steel bodied DH cars. Hopefully as it awaits its turn in the pipeline we will see it a few shows.

Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
An original wing with the mounting brackets are hard to come by. There were two sizes available. The smaller one was used on the Camaros. I don't have the sizes handy, but I can get them. The early date cars I have seen are January 1st week. There may be earlier ones than that though....BKH

Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
How about a pic of this wing for those of us that have no idea what one looks like? Sounds interesting...!
Thanks Pantera |
