How long do these springs typically last? Our house is about 7 years old and I've never thought to check the garage door springs. I wouldn't even know what to look for.

Happened to my brother Gary's '67 396 Camaro, too! Put a dent/gouge about an inch deep into the hood! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif (This was right after he bought it...in the early 80's). We put new springs that had the cables aleady in them, up right away!

i noticed that my doors require a fair amount of effort to open them. the house is 14 years old and i have never greased or lubricated anything. is there anything i should do as far as lubricating the tracks and/or wheels? how about adding more tension to the springs so the doors open more easily? thanx guys mike

I had a garage door guy here a few days ago to give me a price on a new opener. He pointed out to me that the rollers on my door weren't metal with ball bearings but simply plastic wheels. He suggested I replace the rollers with ones that have the ball bearings, change the cable pullies and replace the springs. All on top of replacing the opener https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif Who knew garage doors were such high maintenance?
