Re: WARNING....Check your garage door spring's!!!!
How long do these springs typically last? Our house is about 7 years old and I've never thought to check the garage door springs. I wouldn't even know what to look for.

Happened to my brother Gary's '67 396 Camaro, too! Put a dent/gouge about an inch deep into the hood! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif (This was right after he bought it...in the early 80's). We put new springs that had the cables aleady in them, up right away!

Re: WARNING....Check your garage door spring's!!!!
i noticed that my doors require a fair amount of effort to open them. the house is 14 years old and i have never greased or lubricated anything. is there anything i should do as far as lubricating the tracks and/or wheels? how about adding more tension to the springs so the doors open more easily? thanx guys mike

He pointed out to me that the rollers on my door weren't metal with ball bearings but simply plastic wheels. He suggested I replace the rollers with ones that have the ball bearings, change the cable pullies and replace the springs. All on top of replacing the opener https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif Who knew garage doors were such high maintenance? |
