Tom, the turquoise Gibb/Harrell bid to 165 with a reserve north of 200.
Over all I thought the prices were strong with the good cars bringing top dollars and the not so good just sitting there. There appeared to be a lot of pressure on the owners to lower the reserves if the auction company thought they were close, I'm sure at that point they were negotiating lowered selling commissions. The best buy I saw was a 69 HO Z-28 that had been through all the judging at Carlisle and scored 92% sold for $84,000. The car was super nice and very correct. Most all the problems discovered at Carlisle had been corrected. Reserve was $90K but lowered on the block to get the sale.

A local guy here in Dayton, Ohio owned that Z. One of the best 69 Z's I have ever seen.
There is always alot of pressure on the block to sell a car, after all that is what we are all there for. The auction company knows the resereves are inflated in most cases and the seller knows the auction will negotiate if they are close. It is all part of the game.

HEY RICH....Please enlighten the world on what that cobra really was. there were 4 factory small block cobra dragonsnakes built. that car is NOT one of them. the purple car at mecum was advertised as a dragonsnake but in all reality it was just one of about 450 street cars. this one was converted to a successful drag car by its owners NOT from shelby american.

I heard that very nice L78 '69 Camaro Coupe was bid to approx. $100,000.00 and was a no sale across the block and that a nice Z28 with X-RAM brought about the same.

Re: Mecum Florida

Im not saying stuff didnt sell. I just watch the Very High dollar cars and Phil's W-30 convert was one of the highest price cars besides the Cobra.
People are calling me about the auction and asking what did a car get up too. I cant answer that because its a RESERVE auction. Its not real bidding most of the time.
The car world is still strong but im my opinion when it comes to the HIGH priced muscle cars, their is not a big line to buy these cars. Like the ZL1 Camaro, nobody was in the house that would have paid 600-700K which we all know that would be a GREAT price for a 4 speed ZL1 unless there is problems with the car(im not aware of any on that car)The car will sell for his price but not like a year ago.
My phone has been ringing off the hook and so is other owners of some rare cars. These guys are in search of PEDIGREE cars.
Last year I was putting out fires with buyers who have gotten burned with cars(re-bodies,fakes etc) Guys are getting smarter and its harder to sell a car that has issues. The market is getting better, cause guys are not on planet Pluto with prices and are getting back to planet Earth and you will see buyers coming out.
Cars that are under 100K are moving but in my opinion at Mecum, they were a lot of dealers and a few collectors buying.

If you have a Highend car I would like to hear from them cause I might have your buyer and if you are a buyer I might have your car that you have been looking for...

Just my opinion guys!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Good comments Rich. If you dare, can define 'Pedigree'? Are there degrees of 'Pedigree'?

I am not saying this speaks for the rest of the auction, but of the 4 cars I sold 3 were to private "retail" buyers and of the 3, 2 were over $100000.
