If people don't want negative comments, then do it right. If not, then don't over-advertise it. Why is this so hard for some folks https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

HEY FELLAS IT IS CALLED CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.... NOBODY IS BASHING ANYONE'S CAR.. THAT WAS NOT MY INTENT FOR POSTNG THIS AD!!! I THOUGHT IT WAS A COOL LOOKING CAR AND LIKE WILMA STATED, L78 BENCH SEAT TH400 NOVAS ARE RARE CARS AND FUN TO DRIVE!! I REALLY LOVE THEM!! YEAH, I KNEW THE AIR CLEANER WAS WRONG AND SAID SO, BIG DEAL!! MAYBE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISCLOSED IN THE E-BAY AD.. I SEE LOTS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT DO NOT KNOW ANY DIFFERENT AND TO THAT INDIVIDUAL THAT PURCHASES THE CAR, THINKS ITS CORRECT, THEN SHOWS IT ONLY TO GET IT PICKED APART BY A JUDGE AT A SHOW AND DEDUCT POINTS.. HOW DO YOU THINK THAT PERSON WOULD FEEL.. MAYBE IT'S BETTER TO KNOW AHEAD OF TIME OR BEFORE SOMEONE BIDS $40,000.00, YOU THINK?? AND YES, THERE ARE EXPERTS ON THIS SITE THAT ARE A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE WHEN IT COMES TO CERTAIN CARS AND I VALUE THEIR CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AND EXPERT KNOWLEDGE.. I THINK YOU ARE "READING INTO" THINGS TOO MUCH.. I CAN ONLY DEFEND MYSELF AND CAN'T SPEAK FOR ALL!! MAYBE THERE ARE SOME INDIVIDUALS THAT JUST LOVE TO "PICK THINGS APART" FOR THEIR OWN GRATIFICATION AND IF SO SHAME ON THEM... THATS ALL I HAVE TO SAY!!

RICH

Rich is correct, the more disclosure in an ad the better. When we talk about cars like this, it's a learning experience for all of us - not a bash session!

This site teaches me alot about what is wrong with some of these high priced cars, what to look for, and I have learned a ton already in my short time on this site. The day will come soon when I buy my next nova, (hopefull an L34 or L78) and the first people I will ask for some advise are right here on this site. If I am spending the kind of money that I will have to I hope people give me the correct info what to look for. This site is great, I love what I have learned. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif

[ QUOTE ]
"we worked tirelessly tring to not miss a detail

If I ruffled someones feathers, I apologize, but the statement above seems to be somwhat contadictory. No ones pointing out a missed chalk mark, or a difference in the sheen of a black panel. Most things pointed out are basic stuff. The air cleaner kinda bothered me because, yes it's a dual snorkle and although the ad doesn't say it's correct, it doesn't really say it's not. And there's about a 2k difference. Therefore leaving a novice buyer to the honesty of the seller. Perhaps the grille area was an oversight. That happens. No big deal. But again we go back to the quote above. And Marlin's comment on overblown descriptions.
It's a nice car. I had one a lot like it, and loved the color. And the name gets misspelled, and screwed up all the time. Still pretty.
I don't bash cars. We're way more into helping others with projects, than tryin to tear someone elses down. These were a couple of things that just kinda jumped out. Best of luck to your friend on the sale.

Reduce and Mark Johnson, Tom Williams is a 69/70 Nova expert.
I do not see most of the critique remarks as being "bashing" or "ripping". This websites readers either own many high dollar accurate restos (ala SCW customers), or many of the rest of us, are interested in details being accurate.
Nobody was implying that the Nova owner/seller is being deceitful. It is just being pointed out what parts and areas of restoration are accurate and what items or issues are NOT corrrectly done.
Last I heard members here have the right to post civil remarks about what they see or think in so far as restoration originality goes.
If you dont want these remarks made about your vechicle, you shouldnt participate in this public forum.
BTW, I wish ALL posters would have the common decency to at least sign off with a first name and last intial.
All this living behind a screen name is nonsense!!!!
Do you walk around the SCR10 or your work place calling friends and associates by a "screename"

my .02 and best regards,

I think most people forget where they are....This is not a hot rod disscussion forum. This is a site " Dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the Chevrolet dealer
built Supercars and COPO cars" ...That's straight from the homepage. I want to believe that's why most people are here. Yes, there's a tactful why of making a point on a car discussed. I'm guilty of being on agressive side (bashing) myself. If we cannot discuss cars that are out there...Should the owners word be taken as gospel? Hardly...Why are some cars untouchable and other given a free pass? You all were pretty hard on the car with the 22" wheels....But a discussion over a air cleaner, ect ???

As a member of this site I would expect the members here to tell me what is wrong with my car. As I am not an expert on
all the details of my 2 cars. When members give me their opinion I am gratefull. I am always learning and hope to continue with the help of many of our experienced members.
Thats my 2 cents wort.

Me a $hit-disturber???https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif.

Although exceptions, I feel most of the scrutiny ever seen here is usually like-minded enthusiasts helping each other determine what to look for and see (or not to see) with GENUINE-ORIGINAL Hi-Performance musclecars also the sharing and scrutiny of the facts and details that help in the identification, preservation and restoration of these cars also their unique components..

No, outright bashing isn't good as perhaps that Hemmings car thread was a good example of...but if something is for sale and scrutiny helps another enthusiast realize what it truly is or helps them feel comfortable enough with what they see and know to pull the trigger, that's a good thing for everyone...including a seller!.
If there seems to be a fraudulent side of things, is it wrong in being pointed out before someone makes a major move when they perhaps shouldn't?.

As Randy already noted, perhaps he took more offence in this case as his knowing the subject car also owner he already felt the comfort of the situation and stated facts?.
Personally I don't feel anyone here was too critical as the postings all seemed to be in mentioning minor points of the car itself and/or responses to statements made in the seller's description?. Overall I think everyone here likes the car, loves the color and wasn't disputing it being a genuine L78 car...all good things!?.

No matter if it's big or small, I learn something here each and every day and appreciate the way others share their combined knowledge here freely...that's one of the best and most amazing thing about this site!.

The car would have been just as correct with an Open Element Air Cleaner, that would not have stirred anything!!! No one spends the time to make a part pretty unless they want someone to look at it. . Nice car ,cool trans option, with a couple of tweaks, killer. I've seen a whole lot worse bashing here for the right reasons, there are too many cars being sold to first timers as correct and then they get that lovely feeling of WHAT DID I BUY !!! No harm in Educating the public and potential buyers here who are members or just visiting for info, I thought thats what you guys inspire to do!!! Share the vast knowledge with others to learn !!!!
