Good deal george, I just might have to drop Benjamin off for kindergarden in the Yenko one of these mornings https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif [/ QUOTE ]Now we are talkin! That boy will NEVER forget those type of trips in dads favorite ride! You went from being a good dad to a great one! I never hibernated my cars for the whole winter. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Why? I do the same loop as Joe does on any given early Sat. morning or Sunday after church. 6-8 mile trip. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif |

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/gar020-1.jpg [/ QUOTE ] That is just fricken' NEAT. Almost looks like blue felt has been applied to the whole car. Yes, George (Lyons), they were just cars once and people DROVE them all year long. In those days "Trailer Queen" applied to far fewer cars, mostly real show cars and real race cars. |

[/ QUOTE ] [b] It was - multi color blue - That was instead of a paint job, it cost about $25 to apply! The car was parked in a gas station and an old lady in a big '50 Dodge slid in the snow into the side causing that front end damage. When she got out of her car she said, "Boy it's lucky I hit an old car" - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/gar019-1.jpg - |

Re: Winter driving
George, those pictures are too cool. I do drive my car often. Truth be told I would rather drive it than sit next to it on a lawn chair. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif I had plans to drive it all Thanksgiving week because I took some vacation time...but it rained all week. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif I'm off again on the 17th until the new year so I have high hopes of making it my daily driver. My car was my daily driver back in 1994 so I understand that these cars were purchased for transportation...I guess my original question was geared to..How long does the short trip have to be not to do more damage than good. i.e.. gas in the oil that type of stuff. Sometimes I just don't have the time to go for the long ride...just a quick trip to keep everything working.

Re: Winter driving
Daily driven for the last 10 years. I have put just under 100,000 miles on it! I do put different wheels on in the winter. [image]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...4/PA060042.jpg[/image]

Re: Winter driving
South Central Alaska hasn't gotten much snow this year, but the lakes are nice and solid. I am definitely seeing some high speed lake donuts in the near future, for my 78 TA.

Good for you George.
Hey Sam (Mockingbird)...remember the first time my Chevelle went to Pavillions? Remember the rain...I think there may have have been sleet, too? When people got to Pavillions they thought I was nuts... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif I like this picture, too! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...n_DSCF7542.jpg |
Re: Winter driving
We got about a foot last Sunday up here but the roads finally cleared up enough to take out the 69 SS427 Impala. It started right up as always despite it being 13 degrees out. The reactions of people are great!
