I use a Mallory Unilite setup, never a problem. Will install the same on Benjamin's engine.

I know! However, these products are allowed and even encouraged with the pure stock drag racing community.

Be careful of the rev limiter in the Crane units...I know a couple of folks that have had issues with it kicking in sporadically. As for the Pertronix, they're good when they work...but I've been stranded several times in a couple different cars and eventually took it out.

Sammy, you'll be glad to know, a certain Pure Stocker tested a Pertronix versus points system...the points made more power! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I wonder if Pete G has seen that problem in his Yenko. I know he uses the Crane unit. At least he was using it when he recommended it to me. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Dru, what do you use?

Do they use rev limiters? If so, what kind?

Not sure about rev limiters....

The Pertronix systems were unreliable in my experience. IMO the single-wire M&H ignition kit is the best retrofit kit on the market. For me, it's M&H or points, or MSD if I don't care what it looks like.

I have the Crane unit with a Pertronix coil. Crane has a built in rev limiter, all you need is a screw driver.

In my old '70 Camaro I used a GM HEI unit because the pertonix was said to be faulty. Never really needed more of an answer than that... never investigated either.

I have Pertronix in a couple of cars and love it. No problems, knock hard on wood, yet. Does the crain unit have the total oe look that the pertronix does? If so,where can you get it, and what cars can I use it on.
