Re: SEMA should take note of this.
70copo. I don't have a problem with what they are doing.I beleive It's a known Import racers area. 4 deaths. Thats too bad . I wonder if they were the racers or innocent people. Everybody knows it's a crap shoot when you drive your modified car on the straeet. Most times if your not being an ass they let you go. Work with SEMA and change some laws. My town also did some of this one night in an area hangout for street racers. All kinds of stuff. Drugs, Stolen car parts etc. Mostly Hondas etc.

Re: SEMA should take note of this.
In general, I agree with the fact that street racing is getting out of control. But....
I view this in many ways as an unwarranted search and selective law enforcement. Right we all would like to see a pin head get what he deserves but where does it stop. Lets say one of the guys that gets pinched in one of these roadblocks files a suit saying that he has been descriminated against by the non uniform application of the law. This now becomes an equal rights issue which we all know is the first step to the arena which usually concludes that in order to have "FAIR" application of the law we BAN everything. (Or anything which can be used that could be remotely dangerous must be taken away to protect us from ourselves) So thats where this is heading. Sooner or later the laws will become so restrictive that the day 2 hobby will be gone. Layers will swoop down on aftermarket manufacturers with suites about deep pockets product liability issues. See where this is going! The police can catch these street racers if they want there just taking the easy way out and in the process setting the wheels in motion for the next BAN. I can hear it now...... "we had no idea there were so many modified cars on the streets this is a PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE" and here we go. With a nation of 300 million or so people we will never get rid of the pin heads. So be careful what you wish for I say!! My .02 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif |
Re: SEMA should take note of this.
all these trumped up laws... if you enact enough laws you can make everyone a criminal... that's all the politicians do... keep everyone under their control... if you act up they just cite some obscure law.

Re: SEMA should take note of this.
IMO... The real issue is not the "Street Racing" and safety.
Statisticly, it is simply not significant as a cause of death for young people. This is about a far more serious trend that I see. The ability of local Police to infringe on your rights. Click Here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHR-UjdlZsA when you get to the Video (skip it) and read the 245 total comments left by other You Tube viewers. I see an overall bigger picture here which amounts to the "camel's nose" under the tent,- meaning if Riverside gets away with this potentially a Street racing modification will be viewed the same for a Honda or a Big Block Chevy. The Police will see no difference when your car is being towed. |
