The show was cool. Met a couple of people for the first time. Saw a lot of people that I had already met. I acted as a reporter for the sYc on location! Sorry to the administrators that I couldn't make pics as attachments. Thought that other members would like to see these pics though. Can't wait till the fall show where they will feature supercars!

First set of pics is of Belks ZL1 which got a lot of attention.

Lastly is Felix Lopez's 67 original owner Nickey Camaro "conversion". He had a very "interesting" story to go along with it.

Re: Vettefest

Had a great time at the show! Seen a lot of board members, and the site was well represented. Frank's dad is one of the nicest men I have ever met. Great stories he told me and the wife about being a cop for 28 years in Chicago! Finally met Frank as well(AKA: picture poster)! John's douglas yenko looked great! Something about the white color/black stripes. The nickey ZL-1 was very neat, especially with it's unveiling in Chicago! Steve's COPO chevelle looked kick-a$$ with the torque thrusts. The freshly restored 69 Yenko camaro was one of the nicest restored cars I have ever seen. The paint did not look dry yet! He took the top gun award with the car, and deserved it. If anyone is skeptical about a green automatic car, this one will change your mind! Best part of the show is the end when the cars drive out and do burn-outs in front of the crowd. There was even a waterbox at the bottom of the ramp! Re: Vettefest

I used to get a kick out of watching that show when I lived in Hillside. But now I live further west and Bill's cable waves have yet to make it out by me. I'd love to see it.

Holly cow! That red Biscayne was absolutely beautiful.

Here here. Let me join in and also say that Frank's Dad is a great guy. I was there with my 2 year old and they were kind enough to let him sit in their 2001 SS. The Magallon family is a class act. Thanks guys.

Now about that blonde...

Re: Vettefest

As usual it was a good time at vettefest. It is always fun to meet new friends and talk to old ones. I also enjoyed driving the Douglas Yenko about 80 miles to and from the show, the weather was perfect. We also played around in the bleach box. All the super cars were great. Those new ZL-1 were to cool and roared like the old big blocks. Bill also stopped by and shot a piece, since he was my old nieghbor and I still help him out from time to time, when ever I have a car at Vettfest he stops by. Next fall should be a great show with all the super cars being featured.( Chicago area alone must have at least 25 of them).

Re: Vettefest

ssl78- Was disappointed that I didn't get a chance to introduce myself. Saw the Yenko though, very nice. I was chasing around my 2 year old so I didn't get a chance to talk much. We're practically neighbors. Hopefully I'll get to say hi during the summer.

BTW Belair 62 was that your red drop dead gorgeous Biscayne? I really wanted to meet you. I wish I had known that was your car. That was one of the only other cars other than the ones posted that I took pictures of. Their was a beautiful blue sleeper big car as well.

Belair, what car did you bring? Talked to a lot of people, but don't know them if they are from this site unless they introduce themselves with their username. If you would have brought your yenko chevelle, I would have found you! What are you bringing to the Nov. show? Thanks. Dave

Dave I'm sure by now Stefano told you I had the "old man's car"....at least I cleaned MY tires unlike a certain orange car !!!

Re: Vettefest

I really enjoyed meeting everyone. Frank and his dad were great as was Steve Bimbi. Dave Belk was a real cut up. When I would go to the bathroom or to get something to eat, Dave would stand by my car and tell people it was a clone but if they wanted to see a real one they could go over to his #2 car! ha ha. Getting my car delivered to Chicago by Matt from GMMG personally was very special. Helen Gibb invited me to her house late on Sunday night to visit. I did! If you want to get educated on 1969 ZL1's talk to her. She is sharp as a tack. I took video of her and her daughter signing under the hood of my car. I had never met Ken Barnhart before, until this past weekend. What a prankster. He was trying to get GMMG to ship my car with 350 emblems and stock Z28 wheels! Real funny Ken! To hear his stories and have him sign my car on his birthday was a real treat. I look forward to seeing everyone in the fall and the reunion!

Re: Vettefest

Hey "Flying A". The restoration on the green Yenko was top notch. I love the "better than new" restorations and that car was truely fantastic! Call me when you are in the area and I will give you a tour of my rusty old iron, as discussed.

Sorry I did not get to see your car in person but it is really cool from the pictures. We will have fun in the fall Vettefest, there should be a great turnout for it.

Berger Chevrolet

number60 03-19-2003 01:24 PM

Re: Vettefest

Thanks Dennis. I am glad you liked the car. I met you at the Berger show (Vettefest) in November. I know you talked to a lot of people and don't remember me. I for one appreciate what you have done and are doing for the Camaro!
The #60 car turned out great! Matt and the boys did a wonderful job. Getting it drop shipped at Chicago was the icing on the cake. In the past alot of people have gotten caught up in the moment of owning a rare car and did not document the history as it happened. I want to make sure that #60 has history and photos as it all happened , that will last for years to come!
Thanks,
Chris

Stefano 03-19-2003 03:38 PM

Re: Vettefest

Chris,
It certainly got some attention from former Nickey Chevrolet employees and customers. It was neat to hear some of the old Nickey Stories.

number60 03-19-2003 09:57 PM

Re: Vettefest

Yes it sure did. There were a few jerkys that had something smart to say, but as many people as there were that passed thru that building , I guess a few are expected. Most people were excited to finally see one of them in person. Some people had never heard of them. I was excited to get the car, but to tell you the truth seeing your COPO Chevelle, the exceptional Impala, the green Yenko Camaro and the X22 COPO (hugger orange) just to name a few, was quite exciting as well. There were some fine cars and good people as well.

Thanks,
Chris

fpcopo 03-19-2003 10:09 PM

Re: Vettefest

#60,

Don't pay any attention to the jerks. You see them at car shows(both inside and outside), wrestling matches, dog and/or chicken fights, fires and other natural calamities.
They only let these people out once a month.

Re: Vettefest

I didn't even see Charlie there! Thought he couldn't make it to Chicago
