Hey Joe, Glad you replied to the SYC site and the response you got is well deserved. You and your Nova are exactly what this hobby is all about. Not many guys have the car they ordered new, dragged raced and cruised in the day when these cars ruled the streets. Your still doing it in the same car today! When was the last time you ran the Nova at the drags? Also, please put the tow brackets back on the car. Just remember who's in line for the Nova! See you at one of our hangouts. We'll never growup and thats a good thing. Later Buddy, Dave L. SoCal [/ QUOTE ] Dave...EXACTLY! I couldn't have said it better myself! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif |

The last time I raced the Nova was at California Speedway in Fontana on August 30, 2003. Wow, how time flys. It seems like yesterday. Anyway, all I wanted to do was get into the 12's again. About the only thing different with the car compared with the "old days" was that I had to run it corked up. After a few runs in the low 13's, in the heat of the day, I ran a 12.93 at almost 106, after the sun went down. I was stoked to say the least. I do have a little video of that day and some old super 8mm converted to DVD of Lions drag strip. I'll work on those photos for Bruce real soon. Joe |

Re: Pavillions? California style!!!
Bruce once again you come to southern California and create a happening. I am sorry I missed everybody but my Brother is going back to Germany this month and I was invited to a family gathering up north. I have talked to Joe many times at the two Saturday morning car shows in Orange county. Every time I see his car I have to stop and look it over for about 10 minutes. My favorite part is the tall rear tires and 8 inch wheels that he runs in back. These fill in the fenders just right and he has the stance nailed just right. It makes me appreciate just how neat a small block car can be and how fast they are when they are dialed in. It sounds like you went to the Irvine show on a great week end. There have been times when I have gone it was mostly new exotic cars with the best girl friends that money can buy. But the other show can be mostly 32 fords so you never know. That is the fun of these informal shows is that you never know what you might come across but I go every chance I get.

Mark,
Were you there with your Nova a couple of weeks ago? I would like to meet you. Let me know the next time you are going there and I'll bring my Nova. Thanks again on the other Nova your friend had for sale. Dave L. SoCal |
Re: Pavillions? California style!!!
Dave, I would like to meet up and I will be contacting you. I was at the Irvine show a couple of weeks ago. The place was packed and I ended up parking along the area backing to the freeway. Did you see the small block Nova there? The guy was telling his friend that it was all original and numbers matching. I do not think this car came with an LT-1 350 from the factory or was a real SS but it had a ton of potential and looked like a well done sleeper style hot rod. I was watching your black car for awhile before you bought it but I could not step up to the seller's price. I am glad to see it stayed local and looking so good. Do you also have a couple of real nice 1969 Camaros?

hey Joe... what exact wheel and tire combo are you running? [/ QUOTE ] BUIZILLA - I have stock size rims up front, 14"x7" with 215/70/14 BFG TA's and I had the rears made up by Stockton Wheel. They are 15"x7" with 275-60-15 BFG TA's. I wanted a tall tire for the rear because of the gearing - 4.88's https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif Joe |

Joe, if I remember right did you use a special offset to clear the wheel well lip? There are some close ups of the rear wheel and tire combination on Steve's Nova site. Rob have seen the pictures yet?

All I know is the tires are just "kissing" the inner fenderwell now. If I space them about 1/8-1/4" out, they would be perfect. Joe |
Re: Pavillions? California style!!!
Yeah Mark I saw that look. I am going to look into Stockton Wheel. I want to keep the dog dish hub cap look on my big block grandma car. And since I am not cutting the car up I will need some custom wheels made for it. I am moving the shocks in a bit, but it will be a tight fit. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Happy belated 4th everyone! I too was out of HOT HOT HOT Arizona in beautiful Hawaii with my Family. I was able to convince my wife and kids to go to a Local Car show I found (go figure). It was not Cars and Coffee or Pavillians but it was a car show so my vacation was not a total washout (lol).
Dave L and the rest of the gang same sign back at ya (only in a good way though). I will be at the Pavillians as long as it does not rain (only supposed to be 100). Regads, TA GUY |
Re: Pavillions? California style!!!

I thought we could do a big group deal then. I might be working this coming Saturday (the 1st) anyway. I've got to get things in order because I'm going to the SEMA Show in Vegas the following week!! I was at Cars and Coffee last Saturday and "ran" into Mark Sheppard. All the Nova guys will have arrange to be together some time. That means Dave L, Mark S. and little old me. See you all soon. Re: Pavillions? California style!!!
Joe...the November thing isn't going to happen for me https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif
My wife Lynn and daughter Holly are going to Las Vegas this next weekend for the NHRA race there...They are going both Saturday and Sunday. I *may* be going to SEMA the following Thursday and Friday...depending on work. The following weekend...we have family coming in from Ca. The weekend after that...Lynn and Holly are going back to Las Vegas to go and see The Jonas Brothers in concert there (it's one of Holly's big Christmas presents this year...) So...needless to say...that takes us through the end of November. How about we all try and hook up around Christmas time? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |

Re: Pavillions? California style!!!
Dave and I met up on Saturday morning at the Cars and Coffee show. He brought the black Nova and the red Chevelle, my gosh what beautiful cars. There is not a detail missed on the Chevelle and I thought the Nova was incredible but Dave said it will be going to the shop soon to be perfect also. Neither one of us brought cameras but Dave knew another Dave that was taking pictures and I am waiting for the pictures to be posted on his website so I can post them here and yes Dave knows everybody.
