beautiful Nova and great story. I love the traction bars and torque thrusts. The tow tabs are neat too https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Re: '69Novajoe (Joe Camuglia's) Original Owner SS
Bruce,
1) I'll be hanging around all right. I don't think I've even scratched the surface yet!! 2) I never thought those tow tabs were that desirable. I'll have to have them powder coated first though. 3) You took the words right out of my mouth - if it hadn't been for Dave Lindsley inviting you guys, I wouldn't be here. firstgenaddict(James) and SS427(Rick) - I think the motor was built in Tonawanda because it had that cool little chrome looking sticker on the valve cover that says "Chevrolet Tonawanda - The Number 1 Team" And until you guys pointed it out, I never noticed the orange over-spray on the exhaust manifolds. I'm still learning something about that car all the time!! 1970Bluel78(Geoff) - When you say "left off the red line tires, did you mean why aren't they on the car now?? If that's the question, the car is definitely not totally original, but I have been thinking about getting some red lines to complete the "look". Does anybody here know anything about those Diamond Back Classic tires. I'm not looking to be correct as far as size is concerned, I just want them to look cool. If anyone can post a picture or send me one to look at, I would appreciate it. Tommy - The traction bars are old Ansen bars from 1969. Still have the Torque Thrusts too. Two more things - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif and No https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif - you can't have it!!!!! |

Re: '69Novajoe (Joe Camuglia's) Original Owner SS
Joe
Once again, thanks for the story and pic's of your car. As far as the Diamondback Classic tire go. I had them on my Camaro for 9yrs. Here is the link to there WWW site. http://www.widewhitewalltires.com/ I just switched the tires over to Kelsy Goodyear Red stripe F70-14's. What I can tell you for sure is the Goodyears look way cooler and the D'backs made the car handle WAYYY better. Especially the way the car corners. The D'backs are simply new off the shelf radials that they remove the DOT info on one side and apply the stripe color. Which is very tough and cleans up well. It is my understanding that they will make your tires from any tire if you have a favorite tread design you like. Or go with what the have in stock. Way back when I got mine they were Dayton Daytona raised white letter tires, they even buffed off the White letters so they did not show on the inside. I was always happy with them on the car, and they were VG at freeway speeds. Give the a call. I think these were size P215-14 http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...uTee608018.jpg Mike https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: '69Novajoe (Joe Camuglia's) Original Owner SS
------Joe,,,You now also can buy Goodrich radial TAs from Coker with redstripes. The nice thing about them is that the tires are manufactured with the stripe. I bought a red stripe set for my 69 Poncho GP and they look very cool.........Bill S

I'm even thinking of using their drag radials (with red lines) on the rear, and one of their 215-70-14 red lines on the front. I think it would look cool. I also want to thank everyone again for the kind words and awesome hospitality. I am humbled by and appreciative of your comments and observations. Joe |

L KS great!!!
Cars with their original owners like Joe here or Roger, Barnhart and others that've kept or tracked down cars they bought new really are something special!. A group of original owners only competing against each other on the track at an event would be cool!. ~ Pete |

Thanks Mark. I actually took the picture just when the sun was going down. It was a vacant building in Laguna Hills and is now a church. Sometimes you get lucky!! Joe |

I love it Ken. When did you get it?? Picture has a 2005 date stamp. Don't think I ever saw that car around here!! What brand of tires are those? They look like radials.

Re: '69Novajoe (Joe Camuglia's) Original Owner SS Nova
I bought the car back in 2003........it had 9,600 miles on it when I got it.......It now has 11,400.....the tires are Coker Radials.......It's the only car I really don't drive much because of the mileage......

Yep! I saw that too. It looks like someone removed the heater hose retainer that's usually attached to the alternator bracket. Very sharp looking car. Old school photos are great! |
