Alss,I would love to try and buy that car! I have way too much on my plate right now though. It would be awsome to built a "what if" Z-16 post car. Maybe a 496 though! That thing really gets my gears turning.

Ahhh,it is close enough,it would only be a what if kind of car,I wouldnt be taking it to serious,I would probably build a 454 block engine with some ported open chamber heads,a Mild solid roller, ported old school street intake and 850 carb, headers ect. Just build it for the look and feel of what could have been back then. Maybe an overdrive trans and 4.56's in a 12 bolt with good internals, solid body mounts, box control arms ect.

Oh,and e.t. streets and skinnies on slotted mags,bolt on yellow ladder bars,and plastic racing seats,and a little 3 spoke steering wheel,and some vintage guages,and a lakewood saftey bar,and .....

Grrrrrr. You stink, you have me all worked up now. Thanks!

Muscle Car Review did an interview years ago with a man in the Central Office. He said that in 65 they built an aluminum body 65 Chevelle post sedan car with a 396/425 hp engine in it. Anyone know anything about that?

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS

It would be rather difficult. You can't just throw a sheet of aluminum in a die set that has been stamping out a steel part. The aluminum will split all over the place. Being more brittle than steel, the dies need extensive rework to make a good part. It can be done but is time consuming and I doubt that GM would mess up all the dies to stamp out one part. In the draw die, they could hit the part several times drawing it in stages and might eventually get a part. You never say never when you hear this stuff but who knows. I remember years ago guys rolling their eyes when I told them that I had a factory 427 Chevelle and you know how that turned out.

Pics are from around 06. The car belonged to one of my best friends dad. He had purchased the car in the late 70s with no motor and actually ended up dropping a real DZ 302 in it and running around for a while until it started burning oil and parked it once his son was born in 82'. It was originally Nantucket blue but was resprayed more of a marina blue. Note the N50s on the back! I caught a picture of the protect-o-plate that was in the trunk too. 4 speed/ 4.10 car.
