A: Absolutely not. I have found that owner's of BJs treat them much better than those who you them ad return them. Ask yourself if your you would rent out a BJ. Those who rent out BJs are known as Persons Incharge of Managing Pulleys. Ask yourself if you truely want to be a PIMP. Jason

A: I would not recommend it. Your car is just 15. You will be criticized for using a pulley that is over 40 on you 15 year old. Stick with parts under 18 years old on your car if you decide the car is old enough to modify at all. Jason
Q: I've tried several non-factory BJs in the past. The problem is that, after a little use, some lube builds up inside the lips of the pulley. Will this BJ tolerate lube build-up or will I need to look for other BJs from other people after each installation? Jun-11-09
A: Hmmm, you should get your belts checked out and get a new mechanic. Lube is not necessary on the BJ or on the belt itself. If the other BJs you had in the past were used, you may have bigger problems. They may have been a Clearly Loose Abrasive Pulley, known as the CLAP. Get those old pulleys checked out and don't buy this one if they were positive for the CLAP as you other assesories could pass the CLAP onto this pulley. Jason
Q: Hi. I have a Japanese car. My friend says that Japanese cranks are just as big as American cranks, but I've heard otherwise. Will this BJ work for me? Jun-11-09
A: I have not had any experience with cranks other than my own so I cannot say for sure. I have heard many friends talk about their cranks before but have always thought they were imbellishing. I never really understood that. Looking at the block of a standard Japanese 4 or 6 cylinder, I cannot imagine a crank the size of a V8. I don't think many Japanese engines would have a use for a BJ anyway. Most use a single serpantine belt to satisfy the needs of all there bolt ons with one belt. Pretty smart I must say, but they sacrificed the BJ when they did it. Too big of a price in my opinion. Jason

A: Be careful what you wish for. Many videos on the internet are interesting to watch but you need to ask yourself if what you see is really what you want. I saw a video of a man running a BJ and an RJ at the same time. Personally, I don't think my engine could handle both of those. In fact, the idea of running an RJ pulley really never appealed to me personally. A good old fashioned BJ may be just what you need. Jason
Q: I would like to point out to your bidders that since this is a double belt pulley, it is like getting two BJ's for the price of one. And with the fed gov. now owning GM the chances of them ever offering BJ's again will be slim to none. And though the new electric cars 'Bamy will be mandating them to build will make a sucking sound, an actual BJ will not be offered on future models. A: Thanks for the info. All proper BJs have a double pulley. A single pulley BJ would be a rip-off. Sometimes I like to use one groove and others I use both. Its the quality and versatility of a true GM BJ that really helps an owner's crank feel secure. Jason

A: You should dive right into this BJ. This BJ will protect your stroke by keeping your belt from coming off at inoppertune times. A bj will not cause vibrations that will damage your engine. While we are on the subject, if you have a damaged piston, rod, or ring you should forget about a BJ and call you engine physician immediately. While BJs are a nice bolt on, its the internals of your engine that you need to look out for the most. I hope all works out well so you can enjoy a BJ someday.

A: The orange red is o the outside. The insides of the lips are bare. I undestand your concern. If your belt had residue, onlookers would surely be wise to the fact that you got a BJ recently. While a BJ can be bragging rights in certain situations, in others it can be a painful costly experience. Rest assured, you will be residue free. Jason

A: Absolutely not. This is an experienced BJ which is much better in my opinion. A never used BJ can cause scrapes in you belt and does not do as well with a long stroke. A well cared for used BJ is the way to go. Jason
Q: Can this BJ be used on Canadian buit High revving engines? There are some days and nights that are cold up here. To have to get things going again with cold hands, after a belt has been thrown, is uncomfortable. It would be good if the deep groove pulley crossed borders. Jun-10-09
A: This BJ does not descriminate. It will work on any crank that has the right bolt pattern. Your belt will fit deep into this groove so the chance of pulling out is slim. Jason

A: It depends how hard you are on it. If you are easy on it it could last for generations. Wouldn't it be something if your daughter could be giving this BJ to her son? Jason

Q: Say, like many guys, my crank has a slight bend to it- will this BJ work with a bent crank? I don't want to drop my belt at an inopportune moment! A: The BJ will not be affected by a bent crank. You may wat to have your crank checked out by the machine shop do make sure it can be used. A dirty BJ is still a good BJ, but the grime may nick your belts and nicks are bad. The BJ is currently removed from the crank. If you need to get the crank off of the BJ later I recommend long smooth motions rather than quick jerky ones. If you use jerky motions the BJ may get the crank off too quickly and you may get hit in the face. I hope this helps, Jason

A: That usually costs extra. With this BJ, you can do whatever you want with it once you pay for it. If you need any help with the BJ that will definitely cost you extra. Jason

A: I doubt this BJ would be useful on a 6 cylinder. I don't think the crank would be the problem. This BJ has spent its life on wild V8s and a think your engine may be a disappointment. I think you should be looking for the HJ pulley. There is nothing wrong with a good HJ. Jason

A: This BJ is a pulley of experience. It has been used, not abused. This BJ has been around for over 40 years and I believe it is just being broken in. If treated properly, you may be able to pass this BJ onto you sons and grandsons. That would be a BJ that lasted 3 generations. Jason
Q: Does my reciprocating assembly need to be modified in any way to accept your BJ? I'm running a 10-10. Also, do you have a recommended lubricant in order to properly mount your BJ on my assembly? I'm concerned about chafing of the flange. Jun-08-09
A: A cut or modified crank will not affect this BJ. This BJ requires no lube. If you feel it is necessary to lube this BJ I would use a flavored lube just in case things get messy upon assembly. Jason
Q: I am very interested in purchasing your factory bj. I have had some bad experiences in the past with bad bj's I bought that didnt fit my 69. I was told they were original bj's, which they weren't and I was toldly dissatisfied with the quality of their bj's. Are you sure I will like the quality of your bj ? Jun-08-09
A: Check the earlier questions. This BJ will not work with your 69 becuase your unit is too long. The factory did not make a BJ for a long unit. Jason
