Gill, How about completing your user profile and including a phone number in case someone could benefit by speaking to you personally.

My car is also a 09A built car, but the body is ~6600 before the tag pictured on this car.
I don't see how that is possible. That would be over 6000 cars in a week when I thought they only built a little over 14K cars for the whole month of September.

Am I missing something here?

Body tag numbers are assigned when the order is accepted, not when the car is built. As long as the Cowl Tag Date and VIN# match with-in the acceptable range it is ok.

Look at the pictures of that rear end, springs and shakle bolts... that rear end looks like its been in it since day one.
Notice also the black paint/primer overspray on the cowl screen (just above the cowl tag).

I dont think its an SS or even an original RS equiped car.

probably the &quot;high bidder&quot; saw that it was a fake and bailed ...

or it was a shill bidder for the top bid

Here is the new link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-BERG...#ht_3027wt_1167

and this is a new twist: &quot; X22 (SPECIAL 396 375HP ENGINE SS EQUIPT W/ RALLY SPORT HIDE A WAY HEADLIGHT TRIM )&quot;

apparently an X22 trim tag means L78 <span style="font-weight: bold">AND</span> RS ....

this seller is so full of it that it makes my monitor stink

It states in his listing that it has been off the road sense 1979. So from 69-79 the floors and trunk rotted out and were replaced and so was the top, the hood looks like it was put on the car a few weeks ago. Then it was put in a salt shed for safe keeping. I like his answers on ebay.

Questions from other members

Q: I thougt this car was sold what hapent Sep-18-10

A: Due to economy NO One has money at this time the winning bidder, second highest, even the 3 highest. everyone bids but is unreal. Im just selling car to restore my black Jerry doc'ed copo car.

Q: Hi, how do you determine its an L89? Sep-17-10

A: the rare gm options, the factory l89 marks on the firewall that have rusted marks in the white factory markings, and the fact that I have black and white copies of the pictures of this car when it still had the original set of white lettered good year tires on it. thanks for your interest.

wow, that clinches it for me ... a black and white picture with white lettered tires ... cause I guess that ONLY L89 cars came with those ...
